Is Honda prepping a plug-in? Nikkei says so.

Japan's Nikkei news service has had a lot to say about Honda over the past few days. On Thursday, Nikkei reported that Honda was scrapping plans to develop new clean-diesel engines, instead shifting more of their focus towards new hybrid technology in order to improve fuel economy of larger vehicles. Then on Friday came the report that Legend sales would be discontinued in Japan. This was subsequently construed by some to mean that the RL would also be discontinued, but Acura PR went to the trouble of issuing a press release late on Friday indicating that the RL was safe in the USA (which automatically raises the next question: will the next RL be US built?).
Now, Nikkei is saying that Honda is working on a new plug-in hybrid vehicle and an all-electric vehicle, both to be introduced within three years. It is said that these plans will be formally announced by Honda President Takanobu Ito during a briefing on Honda's medium-term business strategy scheduled for Tuesday.
Nikkei also suggests that the plug-in will deliver fuel economy of about 60km/liter (141 MPG) - more than double the rating of the Insight in Japan (26km/L).
We should know more as the official press release from the business briefing is (presumably) released in the next few hours.
