Torrance, Calif. 12/03/2002 -- Total American Honda sales set a new November record of 98,075 vehicles, an increase of 4.6 percent from last year, according to sales figures released today by American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
A 35.6 percent increase in light trucks sales to 37,716 paced the increase, making November American Honda's second best truck month ever. Truck sales were led by the Acura MDX with an increase of 25.6 percent to 4,569, the Honda Odyssey minivan with sales of 14,024, up 17.5 percent, and the new Honda Pilot, with sales of 8,248, its second best month since going on sale in June.
"Consumer demand for light trucks continues unabated," said Dick Colliver, American Honda executive vice president. "With the new Honda Element going on sale later this month, we'll be even better prepared to meet the demand for light trucks."
Year-to-date American Honda sales of 1,147,098 are running 2.7 percent ahead of last year's record setting pace. Light truck sales are up 33 percent to 136,943 for the year.
