Temple of VTEC Rumors and News - Honda Drives European Car Sales Up 13.8% in April

Honda�s car sales across Europe in April rose 13.8% to 19,557 compared to the same month last year. Year to date sales are running 16.2% higher at 87,341.

Since the beginning of the year, there has been significant growth in the company�s larger European markets � the UK (+14.1%), Germany (+8.1%), Italy (+3.9%) and Spain (+37.9%). In Poland, the largest of the new EU accession countries, sales are up 48.4%.

Bolstered by the introduction of the new Accord and its advanced diesel engine, Honda has successfully grown sales in other European markets including France (+20.6%), Belgium (+57.6%), Austria (+32.5%) and Finland (+32.5%).

In April, Accord increased 32.5% to 4,068 with diesel taking 44.5% of this volume. Civic increased 27.9% to 6,695.

For the 4 month period, Accord sales are up 78.4% to 16,550, Jazz up 20.5% to 22,682 and Civic up 10% to 30,880.
