Temple of VTEC Rumors and News - Honda reveals Everus EV Concept at Beijing International Auto Show

There's nothing about this on the global PR site for Honda yet, so all we have to go by is what we can gather from Honda's Japanese and Chinese websites. We don't know anything about the battery size or range of this EV, but what we can see is that Honda (along with their Chinese partner Guangyi Honda Automobile Co., Ltd.) debuted a sharp looking new EV model for the Chinese market, and it's clearly based upon the HR-V. Interestingly, the design of the front end of this vehicle has essentially zero connection to any current Honda models.

This vehicle is said to be exclusively developed for the Chinese market, but if we were to offer any advice to Honda, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to expand those horizons and offer this EV CUV in other markets where the thirst for EVs is continuing to grow.

Update: The earliest information we could find on this referred to this as the Philosophy EV but it was also referenced as the Everus. The most recent update to http://world.honda.com is referring to it as the Everus.

Honda Exhibits World Premiere of Everus EV Concept, Concept Car of the China-exclusive EV model, at the 2018 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (Auto China 2018)

BEIJING, China, April 25, 2018 - Honda Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned Honda subsidiary in China, today announced that Honda exhibited the world premiere of the Everus EV Concept, the concept car of the China-exclusive electric vehicle (EV) model, at the 2018 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (Auto China 2018), which began today in Beijing, China (Press days: April 25 - 26, 2018, Public days: April 29 - May 4, 2018).

The Everus EV Concept is a concept model for the first mass-production EV model Honda will introduce exclusively in China, which is currently being developed jointly by Honda Motor China Technology Co., Ltd. and GAC Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. (GAC Honda). This new EV model is scheduled to go on sale before the end of this year from the Everus brand, an original brand of GAC Honda. Moreover, Honda is planning to utilize this EV model also as a �shared EV� through the car sharing service offered by Reachstar, a car sharing company based in China, in which Honda announced last year it would make a capital investment.

Other models being exhibited at the Honda booth include the China premiere of the Accord Hybrid which is scheduled to go on sale in China in the second half of 2018 (from GAC Honda) as well as the world premiere of the Inspire Concept, the concept model of the all-new sedan model which also is scheduled to go on sale in China in the second half of 2018 (from Dongfeng Honda).

Striving to realize a carbon-free society, Honda will continue accelerating the enhancement of its lineup of electrified vehicles. In fact, Honda is planning to present more than 20 new electrified models before the end of 2025.
