Production 2016 Acura NSX caught testing at the 'Ring!

It's been awhile since we've seen the NSX out testing, but we've heard that Acura was likely going to be doing some track testing soon, and here we now have some proof.

It seems that the NSX's schedule may have slipped a bit. There had been plans for a production-based mule to make a run up the hill at Goodwood last month, but those were quietly scrubbed at some point. The production car was expected to debut at Detroit this coming January, now there is some doubt there - this is pure speculation, but if the full production version isn't shown in Detroit, and NSX could still be shown as a "prototype".

The NSX is still expected to go on sale during the 2015 calendar year, but it may be a bit later than originally anticipated (we had been hearing first deliveries could take place as early as March, 2015). From what we've been hearing, it sounds like the NSX will most certainly be worth the wait.

None of this is official, but as you'll recall, Honda scrapped their original plan of using a transverse MR platform in favor of a longitudinal layout with a bespoke 90-degree twin-turbo V6. This powerplant is paired with an electric SH-AWD system and a dual clutch transmission, and the latest rumors peg the output of this system to total more than 600hp. The price of admission in the supercar arena in which the NSX aspires to compete dictates nothing less.
