It looks like the resale price for the CTR is downright nuts.

Does the car even depreciate?

some guy on twitter was posting the auction prices (WHOLESALE) and the last I saw used ones were still getting like 38k at Auction. It's been awhile since he's posted an update on Type Rs though - might have been 6 months ago. I imagine that can't STILL be the case.

The wholesale value for a '17 CTR with 17K miles in like new condition with warranty is more than 32K at the auctions.

I was watching a used 18 with 3k on it in NH that was listed at 32k. It was so tempting. They lowered the price to 31- I just checked, itís gone now.

There is new 18 also in NH listed for 33k.

Those are very good prices.

My quotes are from SoCal. Perhaps CTRs in the NE winter are cheaper, here we are in Summer Tire Season all year long.. so long as those tires don't hydroplane.

It also puts into perspective the bleeting about the dealer mark up's. The residual values were always going to be incredibly strong and the owners have gained from the demand this car has rightly generated.

I think I got a decent deal on mine. It's a 2018 purchased new in June and I picked it up with 13,400kms last week.

MSRP in Canada is $43,476 - includes freight and a/c tax
Original owner paid about $47,400 because of all the warranty and accessories he purchased. I got it for $37,168.
By the way, none of these numbers include the 13% tax.

I've only driven it a few times and the roads are cold and wet so I have zero grip. Otherwise I'm smitten! :)

they do come up used on civicx.com occasionally at decent prices.

that said, my '19 is on it's way from the northeast to the northwest :) Had to rely on an old friend of mine whom I've bought over a dozen Hondas from over the years to get me one at MSRP when most dealers here in the PNW still want $5k over!

I would say that is the golden pot.

Two dealers up north contact me regularly willing to do MSRP for all colors. This has been for quite a while now.
