If Acura is considering reviving the ZDX, I do hope it is understood by the leadership that this model requires much better proportions next time around. The front overhang and dash-axle ratio was utterly atrocious on the old model. It ruined an otherwise attractive vehicle.

100% agree with you. I was about to post the same thing. The front overhang killed this CUV for me. I'd pick one up (used) right now if it wasn't so hideous from profile.

I wonder if this also could mean the return of a Honda Accord based wagon.

I think I'm a one of a kind, but I actually like the zdx. Black with running boards custom grill, lowered. I'm looking for one now

I'm wondering if the name would be applied to an Acura version of the Passport. The Passport seems to occupy the space where the Crosstour once sat (at least in the pricing scheme) on the Honda side. In other words a 5 seat shortened version of the MDX.

The ZDX simply wasn’t nearly practical enough for a vehicle sacrificing center of gravity and the additional sleekness inherent using a coupe or even a sedan body style.

Basically there wasn’t and likely never will be a market for an impractical SUV.

If the ZDX had delivered a greater measure of practicality, it might have been better received. It simply wasn’t very good at being an SUV yet while it looked good, it looked good for an SUV, as opposed to being impressive visually without qualifiers.

I was going to say, I do see quite a few X6's running around. The MB equivalent isn't as popular, but there is a space for this type of CUV. They don't and probably never will sell as many as the traditional CUV's, but the coupe style body provides a sportier looking alternative for those who don't mind the decreased practicality. These models are more so about looks and image than practicality. If you develop a model in this class, you absolutely cannot go in with compromise (skinny wheels, giant overhangs). It needs to look serious and have that 'planted to the pavement' look.

To reiterate, the ZDX did have an attractive body IMO, but there were a couple of things that simply ruined it. Sure you could do some things in the aftermarket, but you cannot fix the dash-axle. It started with a compromised platform.

There is not point to another ZDX especially if it will just be built off the same platform as a RDX or MDX with the same basic engine/performance. People are not clamoring for a compromised less roomy SUV version of a roomier SUV in any numbers. The X6 was no success for BMW, it sold much better then the ZDX because it is a BMW and for a few buyers who wanted a more stylish cramped SUV but even those are few.

ZDX failed because it had no more power or performance then a MDX and was not seen as good looking enough to justify choosing it over the MDX or paying the premium for it. They would have been much better off doing a RL coupe with the ZDX interior design, bumping the power up, showing off SH-AWD capabilities in a lighter much better looking vehicle with more power.
