While I certainly don't condone driving on public roads in the manner shown in this video, you just have to love the sound this car makes [with aftermarket air-box and exhaust]!

For those times we drive on public roads in a manner we cannot condone! Come in handy in the NSX! :D

For street cars, it is not how fast you go nor how much horsepower. The joy is in the sensation of speed and having the ability to wring out an engine and hear it breathe without going to jail or killing someone else.

Most old Civics are so poorly insulated, you could hear so much road noise, feel everything on the road surface from the tight suspension. They have good steering feel and great visiblity to see the asphalt fly underneath you. All of which creates a very engaging driving experience and combined with an uncorked engine that sings, and you got yourself a fun car. It may not be fast but how fast can you go on the street without arriving in jail?

After hearing the FD2 again, I come back to how comparatively shitty the FK8 sounds due to the turbo corked engine and relatively sedated 7k redline.

The more time passes, the more appealing old Civics are. Modern cars are more capable and have more content but based on the criteria above, they are generally not as fun to drive on the street.

But if ones interest is simply to launch from one stop light
to another, then a Mustang is a proper tool for the job.

This is a question I ask myself from time to time.
