Crank, no start, but runs great with push start. Please read    (Score: 1, Normal) 02-22-2019 06:16

Hey everyone I am new and I searched a little but cannot find a single drop of help on my situation.

So I have 01 LX Manual 4 Door 128k
The car recently started to crank and not start out of nowhere. Push starts perfectly. No CELs
So I changed the fuel pump, crank and cam sensors and have checked for compression and spark (all good)

When cranking it sounds like a healthy good crank also.

I am extremely confused. She runs great after a push start, but I have to do that every single time I start the car now.
Again; compression, spark, fuel pressure and battery are all good and she runs really great when started

Thank you in advance

Donít have specific recommendations, but have had cars with starting issues and ones like yours were always electrical.

General things I would recommend checking are grounds (i.e. negative battery cable) and see if you can find a test procedure for the ignition switch.

I had an ignition switch fail in my GS-R and it failed to start and in my Scirocco 16V a mysterious (no) cold start problem was the result of a bad ground.

Did you check all fuses and relays in the fuel circuit? Iíve had issues blowing PGM FI fuses in the past.

Thanks guys .. I will double check grounds asap. Any recommendations on a specific ground? Or any ideas on a hot wire bypass with a switch?

Just went out to check grounds but for shits n giggles I decided to try starting it normal. Started right up, SMH. So I'm gonna let it run for an hour and try restarting. I'm so confused. Lol

Next time you have issues starting, check to see if you have a green key flashing on the dash. You may be having issues with the key's transponder chip.

Main relay failure is the usual excuse.

Ok .. so I drove to the store to run an errand while I had it on.
Came out, when to turn it on, and It wouldn't turn on once again, so I don't why but I decided to turn the steering wheel back and forth while cranking and it started! So fricken weird. Coincidence I have no idea.

Do you have two keys to the car so you can try using the other key for a few days?

Bad combination switch, maybe?

If it's not just coincidence, I'd go for that, too.

There was a recall on Preludes (inter alia) for the same thing. Heavy bunches of keys are known to damage them on many cars.
