BTW, first four day of pre-season testing begins on Monday 18 to Thursday 21 of February.

Honda Racing F1 twitter site has a teaser photo with Pierre Gasly in Red Bull colours with the Honda badge! :-)

Sauber has announced their launch date... surprise, surprise... NAH! ;-)

... on the first day of pre-season testing.

The following article on Motorsport speculates that Haas and Torro Rosso teams will do the same... we will see!

Updated launch dates:

Renault – February 12 (Tuesday)
Racing Point – February 13 (Wednesday)
McLaren – February 14 (Thursday)
Ferrari – February 15 (Friday)
Sauber - February 18 (Monday)

Thanks bigblue.

That's really interesting move...

if early launch is combined with utilisation of one of two permitted promotional events then they can have a shake down of the STR14 and the latest spec Honda PU - having useful 7 days to iron out any 'minor' issues.

... and furthermore, could it be possible the Red Bull teams will be testing amongst other differentiators - different versions of the Honda PU during pre-season testing. Ummm...

Anyway, the updated launch dates are now as follows:

Toro Rosso - February 11 (Monday)
Renault – February 12 (Tuesday)
Racing Point – February 13 (Wednesday)
McLaren – February 14 (Thursday)
Ferrari – February 15 (Friday)
Sauber - February 18 (Monday)

Mercedes has announced their launch date on 13th of February... same day as Force India. With both powered by Mercedes PU... wink, wink, wink... could there be closer co-operation between these two teams (rather than Williams which lost the plot last year and was the worst performing team)?!

The updated launch dates are now as follows:

Toro Rosso - February 11 (Monday)
Renault – February 12 (Tuesday)
Mercedes - February 13 (Wednesday)
Racing Point – February 13 (Wednesday)
McLaren – February 14 (Thursday)
Ferrari – February 15 (Friday)
Sauber - February 18 (Monday)

Obviously still three teams to announce their launches - Red Bull (Honda PU), Haas (Ferrari PU) and Williams (Mercedes PU)… so it is noted, interestingly both Renault powered teams have already announced their launches - is this a good omen for the Renault PU for the upcoming season or the opposite?

Counting down...currently, less than 12 days to the first launch by STR and only two and half weeks to first day of pre-testing! Yeah! :-)

just over two weeks now. Feeling a bit apprehensive if I am honest. I hope that the rumblings about oscillations and vibrations are proved wrong.
Honda have nowhere to hide this year so let's hope they have resolved any issues and have good power that is usable throughout the races too.
What will be very interesting is where STR end up in all of this. If as suspected they have a car that closely resembles last years Red Bull then they could really upset a few teams and dare I say it be quite close to the mother team !!
Anyway time will tell. This time of year is what Christmas used to be like for me as a kid, time just seems to stand still...

Yes, let's hope so!

It has been reported that in 2019 STR will share the rear-end chassis/suspension set-ups with Red Bull, as well as a few other bits and pieces. This will allow (again, as reported) for STR to test newer versions of the Honda PU (including for oscillations and vibrations issues) even though they will eventually take grid penalties for the rest of the season. This management strategy/process will allow (if the partnership between Red Bull and Honda works co-operatively and in synchronicity) for solutions to be found through research and developments and for the partnership to thrive - hopefully to a formidable one!

This time of year is what Christmas used to be like for me as a kid, time just seems to stand still...

I can assure you... it will not be for all the personnel (designers, engineers, technicians, directors, etc.) within both Red Bull teams and Honda Racing F1 coming towards the pointy end - they will feel that time is rushing/running out and immense pressure to get things done within the schedules, ready for the launches and for the first day of pre-testing.

Hopefully, with some karma, they will achieve their targets and goals throughout the season and beyond! :-)

So last day of January we have news that McLaren (ala Renault) and Ferrari power units have been fired-uped.

Here's the Motorsport links:

https://au.motorsport.com/f1/news/mclaren-fire-up-engine-video-2019/4331229/

https://au.motorsport.com/f1/news/ferrari-power-unit-fires-up-2019/4331321/

Q's: Is it a good sign/fortune for these two PUs (and not yet from Mercedes or Honda) to have already fired up? Or is it better to develop and implement the latest spec and then fire-up at the last days/moments (hopefully without issues)?

Anyway, we now wait for Mercedes and, for all of us here, for Honda power units to fire-up! Yeah! Tic...toc...tic...toc...tic...toc... :-)

It has been announced the Sauber name will disappear from the F1 grid in 2019 and will instead be known as Alfa Romeo Racing.

Link:

https://au.motorsport.com/f1/news/sauber-becomes-alfa-romeo-racing/4331472/

So I have updated the launch list below to reflect this name change:

Toro Rosso - February 11 (Monday)
Renault – February 12 (Tuesday)
Mercedes - February 13 (Wednesday)
Racing Point – February 13 (Wednesday)
McLaren – February 14 (Thursday)
Ferrari – February 15 (Friday)
Alfa Romeo Racing - February 18 (Monday)

They both, naturally, have the awesome Honda badge... and they have more white (particularly Max)... could there be some (Honda Racing) white on the 2019 cars?!

We will know soon enough - for RB on Wednesday 13th of February and STR on Monday 11th of February!

Looking foward to the launches of the Red Bull teams! :-)

P.S. We now also wait for the helmet designs of Daniil Kvyat and Alex Albon too! ;-)

A lot of black is not my favourite on an F1 car... nevertheless through that blackness on the Haas car and in the background I am able to see bits and pieces in accordance with the new F1 regulations of 2019... and the retention of a T-wing! Woohooooo! ;-)

P.S. Personally, let's have some more exciting livery (and brighter colours) with the rest of the up-coming launches! Yeah! ;-)

Myself I just like white ... like a lot of it... the more the better (with a few accent colours here and there).

Have a deep dislike for black (or any shade of gray) cars, and F1 ones aren't an exception to that rule...
