Everything indicated this is a 5 seat Pilot, with a couple of inches shorter, the interesting part is what power train they are going to use.

My bet its a 2.0T set up for a really low end torque and a 9 or 10 speed transmission.

Boring really. It would be cool to see it have a more boxy shape like the 2nd gen pilot. Something more keep-ish ton help convey they offroading Honda suggests....lol.

Yes, a shorter Pilot with the same interior too.

I'm just wondering why it's now a Global debut.
The pilot isn't a global model, but the CRV is.

It appears this is based on the present gen Pilot and platform. Was hoping the Pilot would give a glimpse of the next gen Pilot design and platform.

Maybe not as in global distribution, but maybe global as in the first time anyone in the world will see/hear about it?

I feel like the pilot is already very dated. This thing in 5 years is going to be petty rough.

If this thing shares a single sheet metal part with the Pilot, then I fail to see the point, by just having one less row of seats! Would just show the design team's lack of originality.

But that wouldn't surprise me one bit!

Can you show me the picture that you're looking at that shows that the sheet metal is "hardly changed" from the Pilot?

Let me give you an example... my son. He rents, has some stuff to move around: bed, small Maggies, bunch of amps/cabs, guitars, desk, chair, dresser... not a lot, but he needs some space in his car to carry stuff.

He has an old Fit, he's outgrown it for moving days. For his next car, the HRV is underpowered, the CRV is too small, the RDX too $$, the Pilot is huge and $$, the MDX is $$$$.

A five door Civic hatch is too tight, out of the question.

If the Insight comes slotted in the mid/low 30s with AWD and as an EX model, he could buy it, put seat covers and be happy carrying his amps and speakers.

From the picture it looks like the mayor difference is the tailgate, have some Range Rover vibe from that angle.

A Pilot awd EX is $37,225. If your concept of mid-30s is flexible it might work. If you think a Passport is going to sell at a $5K discount to Pilots I think you'll be disappointed.

That's completely camoed and draped in a tent. You can't tell anything from that other than it's an SUV.

I read that some dealers were going to see it today in San Fran and I wondered if you were going to be among those dealers.

Looking forward to seeing it too.

That's the way Honda talks about auto-show introduction.
Global debut simply means it's the first time a model is shown in the world (regardless of where it would or not sell; prototypes that aren't sold anywhere also get "Global debuts".

What's the "biggest" Honda they sell in Japan?

I don't see anything like a US Ridgeline, Pilot, Odyssey fitting in any of those alleys main two way streets.
