^ well, the debt thing is very much it - there are pushers on every street corner. Legally-licensed criminals.

I'm not saying that debt cannot be a good way to leverage oneself into the first million well within a decade. But it has to be used to finance a real asset and not consumed on trash like cars and gadgets and whatever. That IS the road to perdition.

Anyone who has the foresight to see through the fiat money scam of the pushers is off to a very good start.

I suppose it's OK to daydream, but really how many cars can one covet and still appreciate them?? You can only drive 'em one at a time..........

Already have a '98 NSX MkI Coupe 6 speed. A Type R would be nice, but not necessary. A MkII would be a must, just to have the complete pair!

Really would love to have a Huracan, in Red, it's beauty makes my soul ache, and it's growl is a joy to my ears. A matching [in colour] Muira would complete the pair.

And a Fazza 458 is a must for any real motoring enthusiast. Yellow will do. Of course to keep things even a 365GTB Spyder, also in yellow, would make it seem fair.

A 5th Generation Civic Coupe [it never came to Australia], BUT as a "sleeper" with K20 drivetrain. Nicely finished to use as a occasional "track car" and surprise the unwary. Imagine the fun. A current CTR is a must in any collection. Both those in Valencia Red Pearl.

Final Honda in the stable a '98 ITR, in Championship White, of course, but with the JDM fascia which I find much more attractive than the bug-eye look of the export cars.

To finally build that "money no object" Improved Production race car - 10,000RPM EG K20 with the latest suspension set-up.

My daily driver............an Audi RS4. At least you can buy one down under, and it's cheap enough [relatively speaking] that you wouldn't care too much about carpark dings. Oh, and replace it while it's still under warranty!!

Weekender, for taking the wife out to diner, in my youth it would have been something like a Fazza 812 Superfast, but in my dotage I'm leaning more towards a Lambo Urus, just because it'd be easier to get in and out of. This would have to be in Blu Astraeus [don't want the car to outshine the wife, do we].

Finally for Sunday evening jaunts in summer and autumn, to enjoy with the wife, a fully rebuilt '68 Mustang convertabile [in Powder Blue] with a 429 V8 rumble [she loves V8 and Harley sounds!!].

As museum pieces, a Ford GT40 [the original] in Gulf colours, a Lotus Elan and a '72 V12 Jag E-Type Convertabile [I'm a sucker for the bigger grill], both in yellow.

A Lambo Espada and a Fazza Dino 248 both red.

Any more and it would be greedy :D

I'd have to go for a bright green Miura as a centerpiece. Then a new orange NSX for a daily driver. That orange is stunning.

Utes have never had an attraction for me [spent 5 years driving a Falcon ute for work back in the Eighties and the seat and ride did my back NO favours]. It always amazed me how 2 bags of cement [80kgs total] over the rear axle improved the handling and traction no end! You would think such a small percentage increase wouldn't have such a large effect!

If I had to choose one, an R8 Maloo Commodore ute would be it. In a fabulous Deep Forest Green colour!

https://www.carsguide.com.au/hsv/maloo/price/2017/r8--lsa

As for Technicolour Yawns, I've never personally partaken of that Aussie past-time, and hence have no affiliation for such a colour scheme. :)

Good find.

Kind of supports my 'straw poll' hypothesis.

And that people tend to underestimate the capital required - even 2.7 million only gives one an income of 135K, assuming a 5% return. 270 @ 10% is a bit more comfortable, but that's really hard to achieve these days.

Before taxes...and you have to keep re-investing some earnings, to account for inflation/debasement effects and asset degradation.

It's probably sufficient to be truly comfortable, but I disagree that it's 'really wealthy'.

Somewhat alarming that people rank 'good health' so low - I don't suppose you know what you've got, until it's gone...

You can do better than 5% if you invest in real estate in certain markets. I like Phoenix... look at the fourplexes selling to the blue collar class. (*). Those people tend to be families, not young punks and they work and pay.

Then you count on your 401Ks... take them into self directed IRAs so Wall Street can't touch them.

That's one of our "bug out from Calimexistan" plans. Sell our little house with a Baronial Chateau price, buy rentals in Phoenix, rent a condo for ourselves with a three car garage and see the country...

I'd love to drive an MDX or Pilot all the way down to Key West or up the Pacific Coast to Alaska: "Canuck roads up, ferry to Seattle back".

(*) Se habla Español will come "muy" handy.
