Since this motor will consist largely of shared components of the Civic Type-R, the aftermarket support for the Accord will likely be stronger than it's ever been.

With a shared platform and engine/transmission combo expect a lot of CTR upgrades to be applicable to the new Accord 2.0T 6MT (think engine management, intakes, intercoolers, turbo's, downpipes, brakes, etc.. That includes the LSD equipped gearbox. Even if Honda leaves it with an Open Diff (a crime, I know), the factory diff will be available (as well as many aftermarket options) for the Accord.

As we are saddened by the retirement of the J-series V6, a new era (or possibly the first, depending on your perspective) of Accord performance is upon us.

The demographics suggest otherwise, and I would argue that the Accord demographics always have. Just based on the ratio of Civic to Accord owners in the old days, they are far and few between proportionally speaking. I don't expect that to change, and I have always been more of an Accord guy.

I am excited that this car may have some "return" to the roots, but I don't think you will find many modified 2.0T FWD family cars that have been heavily modified after paying $30K+ out the door. Then you have the reality that the only one that would probably appeal to enthusiasts would be any 2.0T 6MT model (there will be others of course, but we all know this would be THE model) and the percentages of that would likely be low. I am not even certain the 2.0T sales will greatly exceed 10% either.
