Putting out roughly 240whp and 220 lb-ft of torque, these dyno results for the 2009 Accord EX V6 6MT coupe fall right in line with the dyno test of the 2007 Acura TL Type S (253whp, 230lb-ft) that we performed nearly 3 years ago. The specs for the Accord call for 271hp and 251lb-ft at the crank, while the 2007 TL Type-S was rated at 286hp and 256lb-ft at the crank.

On the road, the Accord V6 pulls strongly, though at times the car feels even heavier than the claimed 3450 lbs. At lower rpms, the superb torque of this engine means effortless acceleration (it's making roughly 200lb-ft @ just over 1500rpms!). The torque curve is flatter than Kansas, and though a stab at the throttle results in a firm shove in the back, it can be deceptively quick. At higher rev counts, the engine gets just a little bit grainy, at least by Honda V6 standards. It seems that maybe the exhaust and/or intake tuning is quiet enough in this Accord application that a larger proportion of mechanical noises can be heard than in last year's TL Type-S. I personally would like to hear a more aggressive intake and exhaust note on this car.

Driven with a light foot and shifting early around town, the Accord has delivered decent fuel economy so far. By decent, I mean low or even mid 20s, but those "decent" fuel economy figures can be shattered by a single full throttle excursion to the redline, plunging the average into the teens for a short trip.
