Preview of Hondas at Tokyo Auto Salon

TOV reader Frank Opperman spotted these advance pics of several (over?)accessorized Hondas that are supposedly going to be shown at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon. First off, Honda Access takes a perfectly good Civic Type R and applies the Modulo treatment, calling it the Honda Sport Modulo Type-R. This particular Type-R may look better in person, but judging by the photos, let's just say that it doesn't quite represent the pinnacle of Honda Access design. This Sport Modulo Type-R is shown with an upsized 225/35-19 wheel/tire package, a host of body tweaks, and a graphic package that tends to induce a gag reflex. On the plus side, the interior upgrades include an interesting update to the gauge cluster, reversing the positioning of the tachometer and speedo and replacing the CTR's steering wheel with an F1-inspired unit that is fitted with a multi-LED shift light. Recaro Racing buckets with full 4-point harnesses, several yards of carbon fibre (or cf-look?) trim, and "gutted" door panels complete the racy theme of the interior.

Next up is the Inspire, which launched in Japan just last week. This one is called the Honda Touring Modulo Inspire. Personally, I feel that this concept is executed a little bit more tastefully than the Civic, though it too has been fitted with a set of taillights that singlehandedly ruin the entire effort.

And finally, we have the Honda Fit Luxe'ster, which (based upon its curious name) appears to be a luxury oriented take on Honda's newest Fit. The key difference here being a two-toned interior featuring tan leather(?) seats and a snazzy set of floor mats.
