Torrance, Calif. 12/18/2002 -- Hondacars.com is now better prepared to serve the Spanish speaking online car shopper with a totally new and fully integrated Spanish version of the popular Web site, one of the most visited in the automotive industry.
The upgraded and fully interactive site allows Spanish-speaking shoppers to view extensive product information, build cars online and compare competitive products within a comprehensive and customized Spanish-language section.
"Spanish is the primary language of a significant number of online car shoppers," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "An industry-leading 18-percent of all Hispanic new passenger car buyers chose Honda products in the 2002 model year, and Honda has led this rapidly expanding segment for the past 13 years."
Honda has offered limited Spanish-language online content in the U.S. market since 1996. The recently re-designed Hondacars.com represents the most comprehensive and advanced Spanish language interface from Honda to date. Hondacars.com en Español mirrors the English version and seamlessly integrates Spanish versions of virtually all of the content and research tools.
Hondacars.com Spanish information is accessed by clicking an "en Español" button located on the home page. Hondacars.com then changes to the Spanish language interface with new navigation tools, information and comparison tools. Hondacars.com enables shoppers to research, build and price Honda cars online and access feature and accessory information. In addition, Hondacars.com en Español offers a state-of-the-art comparison feature that allows users to cross-shop Honda vehicles with multiple competitive models, evaluate pricing, investigate features and compare side-by-side interior and exterior photos.
At 35.3 million people, the Hispanic population accounts for 13-percent of the U.S. population according to 2000 census data. By 2010, the Hispanic population is forecast to reach 43.7 million people with spending power of $939 billion.
