2006 New York Auto Show Coverage Begins Today

It seems like it's going to be a busy 2 days for Honda and Acura personnel. We skipped New York last year because Acura and Honda were "dark" (no introductions) but it seems they've got a lot to say this year.

We already know that the production version of the RDX will be revealed and the 2007 MDX concept is being displayed, but we've also heard that a third Acura topic will be discussed. Of course the lips are very tight on what this third announcement will be, but we will find out for sure in a little over three hours. UPDATE: We've heard that this third item is Acura's announcement of their planned involvement in the ALMS, confirming an SearchID=73241161731282" >Autoweek story that was published two days ago.

Of course we're hoping to grab a few more morsels of info on the upcoming NSX replacement, and maybe that's what we'll hear, but one thing I have heard about the car very recently is that the news report from a German publication is inaccurate.

We still can't say much about Honda's product introduction - the conference is at 10:10AM tomorrow so the wait won't be much longer. I will say that it the announcement is related to an existing model.

Elsewhere, we'll be checking out the Scion booth where Toyota will be showing a coupe concept and a "tC Release Series 2.0". Audi's redesigned TT (based upon the A3) will be making its North American debut today and Nissan will be showing their redesigned '07 Altima and Maximas. We've already seen a few pics of the '07 G35 Sedan floating about the 'net, and Nissan will officially take the wraps off of it right before lunch today. Over at Mazda, the big news is their 7-seat CX-9 SUV, featuring a 3.5L V6 hooked to a 6-speed automatic. The MazdaSpeed 3 will be making its first appearance in North America.

Our next two days will be pretty busy, so be sure to check here for updates and (of course) lots of photos.
