Torrance, Calif. 11/01/2005 -- Strong demand for the TSX sport sedan and RL performance luxury sedan led Acura to October sales of 16,398, the second-best October sales month in Acura's history, the company announced today. Year-to-date sales rose to 177,107, 9.3 percent higher than last year, representing the best year-to-date sales in Acura history.
The TSX sport sedan and RL performance luxury sedan both set October sales records. TSX sales totaled 2,742 units, a 52.3 percent increase from last year, and the revised 2006 model with updated styling and a more powerful engine goes on-sale on November 9th. The RL, which was redesigned last year with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, a 290-horsepower engine and dynamic styling, continued to sell strongly in October with 1,550 units delivered, an increase of 22.9percent over October 2004, and breaking the October sales record set in 1996. The 2006 RL went on-sale October 20th and boasts an available Technology Package that features the state-of-the-art Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS).
"Acura narrowly missed setting a new October record because we just didn't have enough cars on hand," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, sales. "Our dealers have been doing an excellent job and they are looking forward to the arrival of the updated TSX this month."
Year-to-date sales continued to be strong, led by the TSX, RL and MDX luxury sport utility vehicle. The RL's year-to-date sales increased by 211.9 percent, while TSX continues its success with an 18.1 percent increase year-to-date.
