Several TOV members are in attendance of this year's Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. Below is the first report from TOV members '93VTEC_01' and 'Moto'. Following is photography from today's Pit walk.
93VTEC_01: We had a really good chat with Jock Clear for some 20 min. Moto and I sort of hogged the spot and just drilled him with questions. Some things we took away: Anthony Davidson's engine is set to rev 1000rpm higher. As far as Jock is concerned Taku's and Jenson's engines are the same, however he said it was possible that the Japanese engineers were playing around with Taku's engine. There was no indication on the telemetry in the past couple of races, that indicated any problems with Taku's engine before it went. Jock said that the extra pit stop had nothing to do with the failure. Michelin is now taking data from BAR first and then Renault second. Williams and McLaren are using tires essentially made for BAR. Jock was vary confident for this weekend. Unofficially HONDA is on board with BAR for the next few years. Other teams that have engine suppliers are now looking at HONDA and their involvement with BAR chassis development and are keen to do the same (Williams). Jock believes that Ferrari engine is a bit more powerful than HONDA's, but if it is, it is marginal.
