Accord tops fleet reliability survey in UK

ACCORD TOPS FLEET RELIABILITY SURVEY

A Fleet News survey analysing the reliability of 790,000 vehicles run by leasing companies reveals that the Honda Accord is the most reliable company car on the road. And to underline this result, Honda is the second placed brand in the league of most reliable car manufacturers.

This is the second year in which the Accord has topped the "FN50" survey (repeating the model?s success in 2001); however this year sees a significant contribution of new model Japanese-built Accords represented alongside its British-built forebear.

Only multi-marque leasing company figures have been included in the FN50 survey, and they identify the most reliable cars according to the lowest number of breakdowns per 100 models on their fleet. Points were awarded according to the number of times vehicles or models appeared in tables supplied by the leasing firms, and for the position in which they were placed.

Fleet News Editor John Maslen said: "Following its runner-up status in the manufacturer?s league, Honda evened up the score with the Accord taking the top spot as the most reliable model. The tables represent a major shift from last year?s survey, when VW topped the manufacturer?s reliability list and Audi?s A4 topped the model charts, with the VW Golf and Passat second and third," he added.

Earlier this year Honda was among just seven car brands to be rated "Best" in Which? magazine?s annual car reliability survey. Both the British-built Honda Accord and Japanese-built Jazz models achieved a 100% breakdown free record, a feat achieved by just five other car models. Other Honda models also performed exceptionally well in the survey, with the Civic and CR-V models both achieving 99% reliability, and the previous model CR-V achieving 98%.
