Honda 2014 Model Year Change Summary

Honda Brand:
Honda enters the 2014 model year with a strong lineup of cars and light trucks, including some of the best-selling models in the country with the Civic, Accord and CR-V. The 2014 model year finds the introduction of two new Accord hybrid variants with the Accord Plug-in Hybrid and Accord Hybrid. Additionally, the retail sales leading Odyssey minivan receives significant enhancements, including the introduction of the world’s first production car with an in-car vacuum with HondaVAC™ on the Touring Elite trim. The 2014 Civic also receives enhancements that will extend its leadership in the compact car class. Later, an all-new 2015 Fit will launch mid-2014, once again raising the benchmark in the subcompact segment.

The overall Honda lineup features:
  • Industry-leading safety ratings, with all current Honda models tested receiving IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK or TOP SAFETY PICK + status.
  • Unmatched standard feature content with 100% of light trucks and 96% of cars sold now equipped with rearview camera and over 95% of all models equipped with standard Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink™ connectivity.
  • Top fuel economy ratings with seven Honda models anticipated to obtain EPA-estimated highway rating of over 40 mpg1: Civic HF, Civic Hybrid, Insight, Accord Hybrid2, Accord Plug-in Hybrid, Fit EV and FCX Clarity.

Accord Sedan and Coupe

  • The Accord Sedan and Coupe received an extensive redesign for the 2013 model year. Among the numerous changes both Accord Sedan and Coupe received new exterior styling, added features, new safety systems and all-new powertrains.
  • The 2014 Accord Sedan and Coupe will go on sale this fall.

NEW Accord Hybrid
On sale: Fall
  • All-new 2014 Accord Hybrid will launch this fall nationwide and will be the first hybrid built at the Honda of America3 Manufacturing facility in Marysville, Ohio.
  • The Accord Hybrid will have very similar styling to the gasoline-powered Accord Sedan.
  • The Accord Hybrid is equipped with a 141-horsepower Earth Dreams™ Technology 2.0-liter i-VTEC® 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine matched to a powerful 124-kilowatt (kW) traction electric motor, the same powerplant used in the Accord Plug-in Hybrid.
  • The Accord Hybrid is anticipated to earn class-leading2 EPA fuel economy ratings of 49/45/47 mpg (city/hwy/combined).
  • Full model details will be released closer to the fall introduction.

NEW Accord Plug-in Hybrid
On sale: January
  • On sale since January 2013 in New York and California, the 2014 Accord Plug-in Hybrid Sedan features unique styling and a single featured-packed trim with a manufactured suggested retail price of $39,780.
  • The Accord Plug-in Hybrid utilizes a 141-horsepower Earth Dreams™ Technology 2.0-liter i-VTEC® 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine matched to a 124-kilowatt (kW) traction electric motor as part of Honda’s two-motor hybrid system.
  • The 2014 Accord Plug-in uses a 6.7 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery to obtain an EPA all-electric range rating1 of 13 miles, and an EPA total range rating1 of 570 miles.
  • The Accord Plug-in is rated by the EPA1 at 115 MPGe combined, making it the most efficient mid-size plug-in, while also earning an EPA gasoline fuel economy ratings of 47/46/46 mpg (city/hwy/combined)1.
  • The Accord Plug-in is one of four Honda models that qualify for single occupant HOV lane access in California and is eligible for $3,750 federal tax credit.
  • Battery charging takes approximately three hours using a standard 120-volt household outlet and only 40 minutes using a Level-2 (240-volt) source.


2014 Odyssey

  • The 2014 Honda Odyssey receives an extensive mid-cycle refresh, which includes safety technology upgrades, revised exterior and interior styling and a host of new features.
  • Now standard on all 2014 Odyssey models:
    • Six-speed automatic transmission paired with a 248-horsepower, 3.5-liter 24-valve i-VTEC V-6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management (VCM)
    • EPA city/highway/combined fuel economy rating of 19/28/22 mpg1
    • Expanded View Driver's Mirror
    • Powered passenger seat
    • One-touch turn signal
    • HandsFreeLink™ Bluetooth® connectivity and SMS text messaging function
    • Next generation ACE™Body Structure which should allow the 2014 Odyssey to achieve the TOP SAFETY PICK + rating from IIHS when tested
  • New features on the EX trim and above:
    • HondaLink™
    • LaneWatch™ (except Touring trims)
    • Smart Entry with Push Button Start
  • New features on EX-L trim and above:
    • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
    • Forward Crash Warning (FCW)
  • New features on Touring Elite trim:
    • HondaVAC™ - the first-ever in-vehicle vacuum system
    • HD Radio™


2014 Civic Coupe and Sedan

  • The Civic received a host of significant upgrades for the 2013 model year, including exterior styling changes (sedan only), interior materials refinement, expanded standard features, recalibrated suspension and steering, enhanced safety, and a quieter cabin.
  • The 2014 Civic will see additional enhancements for the model year, further solidifying its place as the benchmark compact car. More details to come this fall.


2013 Fit

  • The Fit subcompact will continue the 2013 model year until its introduction as an all-new 2015 model in mid-2014.


2014 CR-V

2014 CR-Z

  • Rated at 36/39/37 mpg (city/hwy/combined), the fun-to-drive CR-Z is still the only manual-transmission hybrid currently for sale in the U.S.
  • CR-Z received extensive changes for the 2013 model year including a new lithium-ion battery, added standard features and the Plus Sport System™ (+S) for enhanced performance.


2014 Fit EV

Available for lease: Summer/Fall
  • With a new, reduced monthly lease payment of $259 (previously $389 a month) that still includes collision insurance, the 2014 Fit EV is available to residents in California, Oregon, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maryland, New York, and New Jersey markets.
