I'm hoping that this may turn out to be a competitor for the GTR or Corvette. I think the LFA is way overpriced for what the car is. Perhaps something priced about 10-20k over the next RL would bring alot of people in the dealerships.

With all of the speculation of upcoming hybrid supercars from Porsche, Ford, BMW even Ferrari I wouldn't be surprised one bit if it had a hybrid drivetrain.

Honda has a good chance of getting back on track if this is executed properly in the old Honda philosophy imho.

I'd be real surprised if Honda can pull off a road car that can run with the GT-R right now.

I'd like to see Honda use [potential] opportunity this to get into the GT class in ALMS and/or LMS.

I'd hope that Honda go for something in between, like the original NSX. You get what you pay for- the LF-A is an amazing piece of engineering; the GT-R is a giant internet meme of bad reliability and the butt of tranny jokes. One is a true exotic- the other is an overdone coupe.

I don't see why not. The HSV beat the GTR in SuperGT so I feel they can make a road car just as capable as the GTR. I'm not trying to compare a race car to a road car though. I'm a big GTR fan as well.

Please realize that SuperGT does not reflect real life performance of stock cars. Unless you also believe that NASCAR facsimilies of road cars reflect real world performance differences.

I agree. I would like to see a car in the 60K range with a performance envelope similar to a vette. Maybe something akin to the DualNote drivetrain updated for modern use. The question is can they supply enough battery power to a pair of 50hp electric motors.

Of course I do realize that. I'm only trying to point out that Honda can match or exceed Nissan or Toyota in engineering.

I good friend of mine has a GTR and it is a remarkable piece of engineering as well. In my eyes the LFA is an overdone coupe. To each his own I suppose.

I'd think 60K would be a good sub-nsx coupe range, but the NSX should at least be range-topping.. say 90k-125k.. too much?

Best thing for Honda is both a $60k and the HSV. My thing is "engine" option. What's it going to use?

As far as the LFA and GTR argument both really have different goals in mind. LFA is state of the art hyper exotic meant to compete with 599's and the like ( LFA actually beat the 599 in a recent C/D comparison and was less expensive than the 599 to boot ) GTR is lower end parts wise but higher end in the performance meant to take on everybody.

This vid seals the deal for me I just can't afford one ;-(

I hope they can keep the price under $80K so I'll have a chance in hell of owning a couple year old used example at least... LOL

That's where my mind is, too.

I know we're being optimistic, but I am hoping the economy is changing enough that Honda and Acura see an advantage again to these kinds or projects.

SH-AWD is a game changer, something that could very well approximate the performance of the GT-R at lower cost.

I really hope this is where their minds have gone! :-)
