The ghost of my 2003 Civic Si has returned.

I see a Comptech supercharger in my 2010 Si's future.

'Disappointing' is what this is. I can't believe they've done this to the Si. I wonder what redline will be.

This ought to cause a rush on the current model - especially as we have 48m leases and 60m finance as low as 0% in Canada.

If this is true, this looks like Honda has given in to public pressure of not having enough torque.

I delivered a RED one Saturday to a 70 year old lady........YES, that is not a TYPE-O.......70 years old.......her 1999 only had 53,000 miles on it, it too was RED........and in MINT condition. I called her yesterday to see how she likes the 2011, she LOVES IT! She has never owned an Automatic car in her life........She reminds me of the 68 year old lady I delivered the 2005 S2000 to 5 years ago.........she just turned that in over the summer for a Fit Sport...........

That is funny!

The last thing Honda does is give in to "public pressure". If that was the case, we'd have a gas powered CR-Z with some balls, no Crosstour, no ZDX, a Type -R, a 6 speed TSX wagon, and so on and so on and so on.

I think Honda exists in a vacuum as far as the public is concerned.

We have civic Si coupes in stock. anyway Andrew that's just it - there are people who still want to buy manuals with nice kit. I have seen two elderly females in the last week wanting leather sunroof, manual civics. In a color - not a shade of grey. This is just getting so hard to to find in a Honda. And it is getting worse. I guess if there was a decent flappy paddle alternative that might do - but manuals are still nicer in many ways. My 80 year old aunt in UK has never driven an auto and never wants to.

I was thinking EP3 as well. I can't believe they've done this! Not only does it not rev, it doesn't have additional HP. I would have expected them to push out at the very very least 220HP at around 7500RPM, and I still wouldn't buy it.

Regarding torque, "the public" is full of crap. If honda had delievered a 2.4 liter with 240HP, they public would want about 210 lb/ft of torque. People are never satisfied. Look at the AP1 s2k for example, the F20c motor delivered the highest torque of any 2.0 N/A ever. And people complained about the lack of torque. The public doesn't know what they want.

If I'd asked customers what they wanted, they would have said "a faster horse" - Henry Ford

Public wants the megaHP sports car... but usually can afford only the compromise.

Cars like the Si and Accord 6-6 sell only so much cause they are quite a bit more expensive to acquire, own, maintain and especially insure (Not to mention the dwindling number of people willing to deal with a Manual transmission, as sweet as Honda's are).

It's not everything to MAKE the cars, dealerships have to be ablt to sell them. Ask any of them what they would prefer: a Redline Orange Si that will sit on the lot for months, or a Taffeta White EX Sedan with an auto. There you are.

(I, for one, will buy MT cars as long as they're available but if they keep putting them only on the low trim, I might defect to another manufacturer. We vote with our individual wallets)

And that is the reason why they should not stop making them. If they overload the dealership with rare cars (Accord Hybrid, V6-6 sedan, and V6-6 coupe all come to mind, including Si), then they will sit there for months). An Si should be something hard to acquire, not because they're as hard-core as exotics or anything crazy like that, but because they should be produced to meet demand. Additionally, if there are just enough produced by honda, dealerships should order just what they can sell, but if they have bad inventory management, they will loose a lot.

Si's and 5MT EX-L sedans are all wanted, and they will sell, but how long it will sit on the lot depends on how smart the dealer is when ordering.
