While Honda has reported 26.1% increased sales in September 2010, Nissan NA reported a 34% increase for the same period, Mazda 31%, while Toyota weighs in at 16.8%, due to strong Camry sales. It’s a wonder that anyone will ever by a Toyota that has problematic hardware and software issues related to run-away acceleration in its pedaling system. The trust factor is still a issue for Toyota, but the clear benefactors from this fallout are the three major Japanese brands AND Ford, who saw a September 2010 sales increase at, get this, 46%! Ford should be the one gonging the tocsin this month!

Well, by your reasoning Chrysler should be gonging it, they are over 60% up and that put them pass Honda for the month.
Yet most of those are (like Ford's) to fleets... but oh well, who cares: "go go USA " !!
PS: Nissan is absolutely desperate to end the year ahead of Hyundai and they are throwing everything they have at it; they are still likely to lose anyway.

Actually, it seems that my research was incomplete! I failed to mention too that Hyundai sales are also up 46%. Keep in mind that one of the form factors for the increase in sales for the American car brands have more to do with access to credit than customer brand loyalty. But the Korean Hyundai to me is the big winner, because they have learned the take-them-from-behind lesson well of providing a quality product that keeps getting better without the big price tag!

How about this? A y/y increase of 133%?
Not that anyone would care if it's Saab, LOL.

Last time I checked, a tocsin was a warning alarm bell, not one rung in jubilation. But I do get what you're saying. :-)

Can it be related to the following?
"... sales to fleet customers, such as rental car companies, were up 80%, while retail sales to consumers improved only 19%. Low gas prices also helped sales ..."
