So Honda sells 1 Crosstour for every 10 Accords.
I suppose we should be grateful for small mercies. Still doesn't mean I like it one little bit.
But would be be any happier if it had the camo the upcoming Chinese version had on in testing.

How many coupes per sedan? Is the coupe also a FAIL?

The Crosstour outsells the V6 accord sedan in Canada. This could mean it is a success here - but sedan sales are way off. Crosstours cost only $500 more than the sedan so it is very probable that the CT has taken some sales away from the sedan.
Overall accord sales are down 15%, despite the new model. Meanwhile the sonata is up 60% and outsells all accords - coupes sedan and CTs, i4s and V6s. Combined i4 and V6 coupes just outsell Crosstours. You could therefore argue in this market that its the coupes future is more questionable than the crosstour (which has only three trims, as against the coupes ten). Much as I like the current accord coupes styling, this is just more proof to me that there is a greater place for hatchbacks (which the CT is) than coupes. And all the more baffling that we are not seeing a civic hatch.

I think it sells just fine - 40,000 vehicles was always a very optimistic number. And I swear I remember reading somewhere (although I cannot find it now but it was probably on Autoblog) that Honda thought the Crosstour would have about a 10 percent take rate - in which case they were dead on.
The Crosstour will get to about 28 or 29 K sales. I think that that justifies the model's existence. If Honda wanted to sell more of them they'd drop the 190-hp I4 in and sell it for 25K.
And sales of the sedan are up just slightly over last year in the U.S.A. and the new model is just now coming out so it will probably continue that trend through the rest of the year. Although I would love to get the Civic hatch and diesel! here in the states.

Here is another viewpoint.
The Crosstour alone outsold some brands entire lineup.
Porsche
Suzuki
Saab
Land Rover

entire lineup in america you mean - all those brands sell round the world - the crosstour does not (except soon in China).

Well, this section is about sales in the USA. Not Canada, or China...

In case you miss it, CT is already available in GCC.
Who knows what other markets are in Honda's plans ?

The point you were making I thought was that the crosstour must be a success as all those other brands' total sales were less. Ignoring the fact that those brands sell in other markets.
Crosstour sales start in China sometime this month and Honda hopes to sell 10,000 a year.

as for GCC - I didn't even know what that was....now I do. I see GCC versions have paddle shifters.

Haha. Is it really the pervasive internet reading syndrome?
From a site that seems to specialize in reporting car news in China (not sure about its accuracy/reliability):
Guangzhou Honda Automobile Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Guangzhou Automobile and Honda Motor, will launch the Honda Accord Crosstour to the Chinese market in October, and expects to sell 10,000 units by the end of the year
P.S. not sure whether the number referred to is retail or wholesale. Would not be surprised if what really said is about wholesale number.

Gap to Venza seems to be closing, and I certainly see more of them on the roads in Ohio and even in AZ and CA last week. Selling at a 30,000 yearly rate ain't so bad if it can be maintained. We'll see. I still think it suffers from Customer ignorance brought on by a near total lack of advertising. Oh well, why should CT be any different. The only model I see Ads for lately are a couple each fro CR-Z and Odessey. I guess if you can keep spending the least in the industry per unit sold on ads and incentives, while not selling to rental fleets, and maintaining the highest retained value, then everybody should be happy.... but I'm not so much... Honda can do even better and it must.

Again, the Crosstour the crossover that look least like a SUV or CUV. I think this isn't a fail in my book.
