Potenza, Cforez, and Hondasrule, there you go on the list.
It seems that:
1) We have a new "man to beat" (question is, can he keep this pace in the long run? or will he be a "sprinter"??? :P )
2) Competition is heating up in the middle of the table.
Glad you all abundantly outdo your respective US EPA ratings ;)

OK, I want in on this, How do I get in. I have 35,000 miles of records on my phone (gas app) I can transfer to this sight. I am 43.34 MPG right now over 35,000 miles of winter, summer and snow tire driving......
|
After you open your account in spritmonitor and register your car, there are two ways of transfering your stuff:
1) Copy them all manually (one by one, selecting whatever parameters you want such as winter tires, etc. none of them are mandatory)
2) If you have a way to export your "gas-app" data into a "csv" (comma separated values) file, do it, then use Excel or similar program to tailor it to SpritMonitor format and import it from the website... In order to understand the proper format I would suggest you enter the first entries (2 or 3 would do), then export in csv from spritmonitor. The file you need to build up has to be shaped in exactly the same way.
Now, if I remember fine, you were not really proficient with computers, so the whole csv thing may sound like an awfully complex road for you... In such case... go the manual way or wait until you have a new car !!!
:P
|
You are correct....LOL I do have a spread sheet on my computer at work someone took off my phone and put on my computer. I got a new phone, a Razor Max and the gas app was on my Droid Incredible, I tried to transport them, it wouldn't work, so they put it on my computer to try to transport it from there, that didn't work, but that sheet is still there, it doesn't have the last 3 fill ups on there, but I can add those........how do I transport that sheet to the spritmonitor? And is spritmonitor a TOV thing?
|
Well, I'll try once, will make my best to explain it step by step, but I don't think I'll have the time to come back on you if you can't manage.
Here is what you have to do (on a PC):
1) Log into your account at SpritMonitor
2) Create your car: clic on "Add vehicle", then fill the détails
3) Clic in your car ID, then on "Add fueling entry", and put your first full-tank entry (if you didn't fill it up at the beginning it won't work, the first fueling needs to be a fill-up)
4) Repeat step 3) as many times as you need until you reach your second fill-up (if you always fill it up you only need to add one more record); be sure to specify your fill-ups "Type" as "full"
5) In your vehicle homepage, instead of clicking "Add fueling" once again, clic on "More", then "Fuelings csv export". That will download a "csv" file, which you can manipulate in Excel.
6) Get your original data into exactly the same format (the important part are the number and position of columns) as the file you've downloaded from Spritmonitor (you can replace the fuelings you added manually, or keep them, as you want).
7) Back to the website, instead of clicking on "Fuelings CSV export", clic on "Fuelings CSV import", and upload the file you've just created.
If you got the format right you'll have all your data up in spritmonitor. If not, either it will fail or it will create a mess. If you create a mess I suggest you delete your vehicle and start over again, because deleting fuelings is a pain...
Remember to follow the rules/codes specified in the csv export website. Two most important ones:
1) csv files use colons (or semicolons) to split columns, so do not use them when writing values on the cells.
2) It is essential that you properly write the field "type", be it "full", "partial", or "invalid", or "first fuel". If the type is wrong all calculations will be wrong regardless.
Good luck !!!
PS1: TOV has nothing to do with SpritMonitor, I use it because it's convenient, but you can find the whole reasoning in the first posts of this thread (where I explain it in more detail).
PS2: Once you are done you can download the spritmonitor app from Android marketplace and keep adding your data from your mobile phone, whatever you do in spritmonitor will be updated here. And btw, if you want to participate you rather read my second post on this thread, where I explain the rules.

"D"......
OK, I am in....signed up under HONDA AFVM as I am here...There is also some stupid "CLEV" in black and white on my page too.WTF? I am ready to play. I only started with my last 2 fill ups because that is all I have time to do, can I go back in and manually add, say from the beginning of the year?
|
I saw your username, and think you are doing just fine for the time being (by starting from your current mileage obviating your old records). Remember, you can add those old ones anytime you want, but if you do, just don't forget to go and change your 9th May 2012 type to "full" from "first fuel".
As for the TOV part, please read the second post on this thread, which (as written down bellow the table) contains the rules to participate (and related info you need to provide). Here is an example of the info, as given by hondasrule on his Insight:
I just created the Spritmonitor account:
- 2012 Honda Insight EX
- 98HP
- LDA3 MF6
- USA Big City
- #500764
Good luck !!!
|
I can start in March and I would have an easy 3,000 miles. I don't quite get it.......Do I have to erase the 3 entries I put in, or can I go behind them? What did you mean by "full" from "first fuel"? And can I Change my pass word from the crazy one they gave me to one I can remember? Is there an App for my Android?
|
- Whenever you add a fueling you have to choose its "type". Your first fueling should be marked as such, the rest as "full" or "partial" depending on how do you fill up your tanks.
- provided you are careful with the dates, you can add previous records at any time without erasing the more recent ones but:
1) be sure your oldest fueling is always marked as "first fueling"
2) be careful with the transitions because sometimes it gets screw up.
- yes, I believe there is an android app, look for it in your market place

Thanks "D" and Hondasrule.........I really do appreciate your patience.........I am great at understanding all the electronics and systems on cars and phones.......but there are some things with computers that I just don't get, it may seem so easy to you guys, but it's not for me. Thanks........

After the sad demise of the Prelude, I've now logged 3000 miles on my newest car. Feel free to add me to the database whenever you get a chance.
Spritmonitor vehicle # 543335
99 Civic LX sedan AT 1.6 106hp
CS
No stellar numbers just yet, but I suppose I'm comparing summer Prelude numbers to winter Civic numbers. Also, looks like my very worst Civic tank is almost equal to my very best Prelude tank. Guess I can't complain.
But I look forward to the summer mileage, as well as trying out some efficiency-focused mods.

The title says it all...
I'm sure some will understand I had to do it since there is no other way I could catch up with Hondasrule and Call_In on the CR-Z, and there might be some truth to that :) :) :) , but ultimately I just thought that since we have so little participants it'd be still nice to see cars and bikes together.
Answers the question: "how much fuel could actually save if I gave up on 4 wheels commuting"???
PS: In the unlikely scenario that bikers start flooding the chart, I will for sure build a separate ranking.

Woaw, this is getting soooooooooooooooooo popular !!!
Now we have 18 vehicles out of the thousands in TOV :P
Thanks HondaJet and blackstripe77 !!!!
PS: Uhm... I think that reaching 15L/100km in an Odyssey demands more than horrible traffic, you definitely have some special skills at the wheel !!! (or maybe should I say "at the pedal" !!! :P )

Seriously, half the time (during commutes, stop-go traffic) I'm in eco-mode. The commute is approx 12km and takes between 1 hr and 1hr30 per day... -.- I get better mileage on late-night mountain runs with econ mode turned off!
My LS430 used to average 22l/100km (yeah, ouch) and in a week with a 2.0 CVT StepWGN I got between 10l/100km and 13l/100km...

My mpg looks way too optimistic. The Odyssey has only been averaging 22-24mpg combined. Its confusing setting up on that website. It should update correctly my next fillup. Now, im going to include my Civic HX coupe in there too, Id say it'll be in the top five. That VTEC-E and CVT combo is superb.

I am getting 9.0 l/100km in my 2013 Acura ILX 2.4 6MT
That works out to be 26.13 MPG, MOSTLY city with a little highway mixed in. Not too shabby!

I thought so (way too optimistic), but that's what you recorded at the pump !
If there is something you don't get please ask. Basically all you need to do is write down:
- the odometer reading (total number of miles your car has run)
- the number of gallons you put to fill it up.
Everything else is accessory as long as tracking your mpg goes. Just one more detail, be careful to choose the right kind of fill-up (full or partial) each time, otherwise calculations will be messed up.
Good luck !!!
PS: Usually there is no way of getting mpg measurement right on a single fill-up so I tend to wait for a few thousand miles before adding someone to the list, but had a bit of free time and decided to do it right away this time. Don't worry, with a US V6 Ody you'll go down on the list !!!

All I can say is the same as for blackstripe, the only true way of finding out is participating !!!
We will for sure welcome the first ILX in the list !!! :P

I've actually been tracking my FE (and following this thread) since before I got my Odyssey, just never bothered to participate. Especially since my LS430 consumed pretty much double what my Ody does. But hey, this is a database, not a competition. We all deal with different road and traffic conditions, and that's probably the biggest factor here. I'm sure these seemingly irrelevant figures will be useful to somebody! If not, we can just laugh at my little 4-cylinder and complain about how inefficient Honda engines are...
|
blackstripe77
 |
|

On a more serious note though, 11km/l to 12km/l is easily achievable on the highway. That betters the rated FE, so all in all I'm pretty happy with my cars overall performance.

Indeed, the main point is having the data available, both for oneself and other people. For sure everyone's conditions are different, but at least one can tell how good/bad can a given car get under some circumstances.
Thanks again for participating, I would have loved to see your LS430 data in the database as well :P
