Santa Monica Service Dept. = IMPOSSIBLY HORRIBLE!!!    (Score: 1, Normal) 08-24-2007 17:04

So I take my car to Santa Monica service to have a few warranty issues dealt with. In the past visits I have gotten dings, scratches or even missing lug nuts I'd say 8 or 9 out of 10 times I've been there to my car when I get it back. I declined to have most of those things repaired, except for one ding.

So sure enough, this time after they roll the car over to me (after they refused to "duplicate" the warranty issues), I immediately see a 3-3 1/2" ding on my door. This was not there and was not recorded at the time of the walk-around inspection.

So the Service Manager questions the advisor if it was there before I brought it in, and when the advisor told him no, he reluctantly agreed to have it repaired, but told me this:

"...we'll fix it, but this will end our relationship. You cannot come to this service department again."

Can anyone believe this? Can anyone top this?

Might I direct you to the thread about my experience with the Joyce Honda service department. Still trying to get that fixed properly.

That is some pretty lousy service, though.

But, it sounds like you should have stopped bringing your car there some time ago.

And call Honda Cutomer Relations. Although it is unlikely they'll do anything for you (because that is the not-so-funny joke they have become), at least it'll be on the record.

Sorry to hear about the lousy luck.

This happens all the time, all brands. Shop is filled up, mechanics busy, doors are opened and things are moved around. End result, you discover dings and dents and scratches that was not there before. Same thing happens on parking lots, but first time you see it is when you pick up your car after service and you blame the dealer. Who knows. Can't blame Honda or whatever car brand. People are involved. Address the people, not the brand of car, they are usually fine coming from the factory. Some dealers are better than others and some customers are harder to handle than others. We deal with people. In Germany car magazines plant faults in cars and then take them in for service to see the quality of dealership. They announce the result in their magazines and the results can be very bad.

Last years, in the midst of economic downturn, Honda opened a new 15 million Euro training facility in Germany:

Shigeru Takagi, responsible for Honda's European operations as President of Honda Motor Europe Ltd. stated: "The Academy is not just for learning about our latest products and technologies. We have to listen to and respect each customer's individual concerns and to establish a good relationship with them, built on trust. The Academy's mission is to help every associate at Honda to learn how to serve each individual customer better."

So, enough of this Honda do not care nonsense. I'm sure they do similar things in other countries too. If a dealer fail to satisfy then write a letter to Honda importer/distributor by certified mail. Will not hurt to send a copy to Japan either.

Many years ago the Honda distributor in the country I lived did not return my letter. I wrote to Honda Japan which in turn contacted the distributor. The owner of the distributorship contacted me and arranged a meeting. It turned out an employee at the distributor had received my letters, however just put them aside. Honda at upper levels did care, however not all people employed at different levels within Honda did care.

I brought a new Miata back to Santa Monica Mazda for its FIRST service and right in front of me the service rep drove my car right into the back of the car parked in front of me. Sure they paid to repair the car, which was mostly just repaint the bumper, but it was a new car.

BTW - that ended our relationship :)

Cutomer Relations with honda or acura is a joke, the only true way to fix your problems is to sue the dealer and sale your car. Honda has became such a freaking joke. I would rather own a toyota and take my chances.

I have myself been burned by lies from honda to cover their problems and then acura. Never again will I EVER buy a POS honda. They are now worst then what ford has been in the past and dont seem to care and will blame you for all their problems. If honda truely cared they would pull their name sake from the bad dealers and not let them sale or fix their cars to TRUELY show they care about their customers.

LOL, now you have dug up a 2007 thread.

Can't you make up your mind. In one thread, you were running into the arms of KIA.

Then you copy and paste your in another old thread, and claimed you were running into the warm embrace of Nissan's bosom.

Now you are rushing into a recall prone Toyota.

Make up your mind, pick one brand to save you from the devil's seed knows as Honda.

BTW, as the original poster, I was referring to the Acura dealership that is across the street from the Santa Monica Honda dealer. The Honda dealer is actually very good and professional.

That is kinda nuts. I had a similar issue with my VW GTI. Found a nice long scratch in my fender. They offered to fix it and didn't give me any issues.

On another note, I would call Honda of America, or wherever their corporate office is. I raised hell with VW of America once and they paid me $340 dollars (1 months lease payment) and also sent me a $100 check to take my girlfriend out to dinner. Seemed reasonable at the time. BTW, don't buy a VW.
