Anyone?
I've been keeping my eye on the inventories here in PHX at the three valley dealers, and I don't see any movement at all. The same vehicles that were on the lots weeks or even a month ago, are still sitting there. A trickle keeps arriving but I've seen only ONE disappear from inventory in the last 45 days - a black/umber tech package.
I'd have thought the ZDX would have sold at a quicker pace in it's first six months.
Is it the slightly bloated lease payment/down payment that's keeping folks away?
I wrote a dealer about negotiating on a lease, didn't seem like he was interested in budging from the Acura-sponsored package of numbers.

What a waste. One bad Honda decision after another. Why couldn't they have developed 1 single sports car instead? I wouldn't care if it were badged a Honda or an Acura.

And the people that bought the ZDX are glad Honda didn't waste a ton of money developing a sports car.

Honda makes a nice profit margin off each ZDX sale and has relatively small R&D costs to recoup (compared to a sports car). It was a good business decision, even if the sales seem to be small. Keep in mind this vehicle is designed to be exclusive and improve the luxury image of the brand. It isn't designed to light up the sales charts.

Is there any incentives yet on the ZDX in the USA?? Here in Canada they already have huge lease incentives and i have even seen $4500 Cash Rebates on the ZDX in order to help move them.
I realise the projected sales where about 500 a month but you would think they would be happier selling a well designed 2Dr coupe at around 1600-1700 units a month with no incentives given away much like the A5.

Not to be picky but:
- Audi A5 sales include those of 2 different bodies (convertible and coupe), with 4 different powertrains, manual and automatic tranmissions. In all, you are comparing 7 different variants to a single one...
- Audi A5 starts from USD 36k on a 200Hp 2.0T i4 ; ZDX from 45k on a 300Hp 3.7L V6
- A5 is now well introduced in the market place, on a traditional coupe form; ZDX is an all new vehicle nearly on a segment by itself...

At least in the DC metro area, the ZDX is not moving off the lots. I just had my car serviced a little while ago and there is absolutely no negotiating room on a vehicle with very few buyers. The sales people want to deal but I was told it is coming directly from Acura to not provide any discounts or incentives.
On a side note, the sales guy and the manager immediately offered to buy my car right there on the spot and above BB value. I'm not looking to sell but they are trying to get their hands on RSXs. The resale value is still high and they offered me a 4 cyl TSX Auto with Nav for 26,480.

cars.com total US inventory up to 723.
Inventory goes from 250 to 700+ and sales go from 170 to 250. Total sales since release is now at ~600 for 3 months of sales.
I have 36 ZDXs within 50 miles of me, and I have yet to see one off of a dealer lot. Each dealer close to me has between 4 and 9 ZDXs. I guess there wern't any waiting lists. LOL.

Woaw, according to your numbers you must live in the US area with the highest concentration of ZDX of the whole country !!!
If it's true that they aren't moving there, I wouldn't expect Honda to send anymore close to you... what a waste !

You cant really blame a company though that appreciates and offers a choice to the consumer compared to one that believes the consumer should be greatfull that the company even acknowledges them such as Honda.
I dont think you understood what i was talking about. I am looking at it mainly from a financial perspective rather than just a model comparison. The starting prices do matter but the majority of A5/S5 sales are not base models. Even then its the net profit that matters to any business. I'm sure Honda's accountants would be much happier if they designed a 2Dr coupe like the S5 that had sales 3 times better than the ZDX and in the end netting much more than what the ZDX is for them.
The A5/S5 is well established in the market place but has been a great seller ever since it was introduced. My closest Audi dealer just got their first S5 in stock 2 months ago.....for the past 2 years every stock model was sold while being built or while in transit and at or near full MSRP (any business would love that kind of demand). As i already mentioned the ZDX with all the hype and only 3 months into its release is already being offered with huge lease/finance rates and $4500 cash back with many sitting in stock on the lots here in Canada.
Many people look at the ZDX as more of a coupe style variant for Acura rather than a SUV and i agree its aimed at a very niche market like the X6. All im saying is IMO if they would have put as much effort into designing a great coupe rather than the ZDX Honda probably would be profiting more especially if the consumer is looking at the ZDX as more of a coupe variant rather than a SUV anyway.

As you have probably seen from my posts below, I would just wait for awhile before making a purchase. I have a feeling the trend up here in Canada will filter down to the USA once the lots start filling up with stock. Before you know it the dealer will probably be calling you back to see if your still interested and will be eager to deal with you.
A good example is the TL SHAWD 6MT. When it first came out everyone was saying how hot of a seller it was and the dealers werent budging on price. Just a few months after its release rebates where extended to all models (incl 6MT) as lots where filling up with them (7- TL 6MT's at my dealer). Over at Acurazine guys are now buying the 6MT for up to $6-7K cheaper than what the first people where buying them for only a few months earlier (talk about putting a damper on your vehicle purchase)........be patient and you will get an awesome deal.

I'm precisely noting it from a financial point of view.
Wouldn't Acura be happier if they made a single car that sold as much as their whole line-up? For sure they would, but what's the point of that argument?
I personally couldn't care less about neither you nor anyone here saying "this car is on the lots near where I live", or "this one is not".
You were pointing out the fact that A5 sales are much higher than the ZDX, and I was simply saying that you are comparing pretty different things that can't be that easily compared with each other. It's not about the sales numbers, it's about how much meaning those figures may make to both manufacturers, and you trying to intend that Honda should have instead brought an A5-like coupe. Now, could you tell from those figures you cited if Audi makes more money on those A5's in the US than Acura on the ZDX? I sure couldn't tell, and I don't think you could either, because their cost structures are pretty much different from A to Z and neither you not me have any info about it.
That was my sole point, and I can't see where did I miss the mark. People here just have too many pre-conceptions, and happen to just think about their solely point of view. Those wanting a coupe think everyone does, those wanting an MT think everyone does, and so on and on and on. The fact is coupes as a whole don't sell in the US, nor does MTs, with or without your lots. For a premium automaker with a pretty much stablished reputation to need offering 7 variants of one car in order to sell 1500 cars a month on the second biggest car market of the world should be enough.

People don't really seem to understand this, but How many cars are in inventory says very little about how well the car is doing.
Like I've said before, people will not buy A ZDX, not for that price. They will be THE ZDX they choose. As with any low-production vehicle, it will take a while for sales to ramp up. The dealership I worked with had a tiny stock of vehicles, some were a year old, some were sold on arrival. Certain color/package combos just don't sell in a given area.
Also, why the hell is the A5 being mentioned in this thread? It is completely irrelevant. I'm sure Acura is glad they're not Audi. Audi offers 9 models with 15 variants, and only manages to sell a few thousand cars month DESPITE it's so-called tier 1 status, that so many of you swear by. If Acura had 9 models, they would surely outsell the competition as a brand.
Sales are irrelevant to the quality of a car, that is the only reason I mentioned sales.

The post I can find is dated Mar 13:
Yep, we just recieved $4500 Cash Rebate on all 2010 models
It's in a TL thread, therefore, not sure which model(s) the poster was referring to.
The current offer (I can find) is sth like 1.9% lease / financing for 36 mths (depends on region). Can't find anything about cash rebate.

Thanks for the link.
The original post was dated Mar 13. Still surprised not to see it on the web.
BTW, according to the poster:
This probably has a LOT to do with our strong dollar too, it's crazy how much of a price difference there is between US MSRP's and Canadian MSRP's - rebates narrow the gap a little and MIGHT deter Canadians' thoughts of going down south to snag a deal.

Acura doesn't do rebates, if anything it's dealer cash. But I smell bullshit. It's more than they've ever offered even during the times when the MDX was selling terribly, the most they ever offered was 4k.

Well, at my store we've sold everyone we've received within the month of getting them. We've received about 1 a month since January, and only as of recently we've received a total of 3 within the last week. It has generated LOTS of interest for us.
The very first one we sold was to a guy that orginally came in to test out the MDX. He needed something larger than the 08 TL-S that he was currently leasing because his wife was pregnant BUT really dreaded the idea of a family hauler. He saw and test drove the ZDX, fell in love and he rest was history! I don't even recall him even driving an MDX?! I know that a "family-mobile" is not remotely close to what Acura was intending for the ZDX but for him, it was bigger than his TL-S, had better cargo arrangements and wasn't your everyday "family-mobile".
I feel that the ZDX is doing what they were meant to do and that is build interest in the brand. How long that will last, who knows, but people who are upset that the RL has not received an appropriate redesign have been enjoying the fresh design of the ZDX.

They are doing their job by trying to buy your RSX... And by my calculations, they are being EXTREMELY agressive about it, too! If your number of $26,480 is for a NEW 2010 TSX Tech, they are about $4500 less than invoice!!! If it were me, I'd be driving one and not blogging about the deal that I turned down. Even as a salesman for Acura, I know a supurb deal when I see one! As far as I know, there is NOT $4500 in dealer insentives to be had?!

Well i got my TL SHAWD Tech for $41,000 out the door (after everything except financing) So it's about $2,000 off sticker. If you add california tax and all the fees, it's more like $6,500 off sticker. (by sticker you meant msrp right?)
There's another dealer that offered me $40,000 out the door for the same vehicle.
