There was a blurb in the TSX Wagon review about VGA based NAVI.
Does this mean that HMC is moving towards a standard display format?
If that's so, will it support external VGA enabled devices?
I've always thought that stuff like on board Navigation software has to move to a portable device and that the on board display will eventually provide native control of the car only: system displays, HVAC, stereo, etc...
While stuff like Navi will move out of the car proper since it changes so fast that having the Navi software part of the car pretty much ensures that obsolescence... even if the maps are in a upgradeable DVD.
This is the path that on board telephones have taken. Today, the phone is portable and the car supports a Blue Tooth user interface.

Before you get too carried over Tony, I think the VGA thing is not about any kind of standardization, but simple "VGA resolution", i.e. 640x480 pixels...
You could think about it as a "HD navy display" given the size (8"). That said, at least in Japan, all the high-res navys are "WideVGA", i.e. 800x480 pixels...
I really don't think you should be reading anything else in there...

Sorry Tony, no clue about that, but I don't think producers of TFT pannels lack around the world, mainly Asia, might be China, Taiwan, or South Korea/Japan depending on qualility...
