I have a 95 GSR, and have had no real problems until now, I noticed a little bit of white smoke comming from the hood after a car wash, and stoped to check it out. It appears that somehow the coolant is going. I always keep my antifreeze near max, and it was almost down to min, which scared me. I filled it up, checked around, and can't find any reason it should be dissapearing, but even parked it seemed to drop down to near the min level again. I don't know what is happening, please help me.

Do you smell coolant when the engine is hot? You may have a cracked radiator. The top and bottom tanks are plastic, and crack after some years or miles of use.

it sounds like you have a small crack in the radiator. Do you find any light-colored stains on the floor? Also look on the splash plate right under the radiator for coolant stains too..right after a driving.

yea, the first thing I noticed was the smell of coolant in the hot engine bay, and yes I did notice liquid resting on the splash guard. also, at the top of the radiator where the metal meets with the brown plastic there is a ring of antifreeze resting all around the radiator, so I guess you guys nailed it, how do I go about fixing this without getting screwed by the dealership.
Thanks for your help,
Matt

I had the top tank crack on my Integra LS at about 100k miles. (Very similar to what you are describing.) My local Honda dealer (don't have an Acura dealer in town) took the radiator out and subbed the work to a radiator shop. Total bill was about $100. A radiator shop might be able to do it for less. Good luck.

I replaced the radiator on my LS around 65K miles. I did it myself since it's a fairly simple job. Get the new rad from, say, one of the site sponsors (click the Sponsor link). I forget how much the cost was. You could also look into a Fluidyne, which will have more cooling capacity.

you have two choices get the old one repaired or get a performance one. Its your money so do what you feel. but don't overlook the fact that if you get the factory it will come with one year warranty so keep your receipt. as for the the performance the benifit is in a better cooled motor. I would also get the thermostat changed while doing all this.
