Can anyone tell me if we can get the headlights in HID? Do the JDM Integra Type-R have HID headlights as standard or are they an option?

HID is an option. But, since you have the JDM headlight enclosures already, you can order the JDM HID kit and it will fit right in.

about your link to jdmhondaparts.com, Thanks. Though they're expensive, I don't think there's a place on this arid island of ours that would have it. We don't have such a large honda market as North America.

U think I could order it from Honda Australia (dealership). I have a friend who works in a dealership, but in the IT department...

Expensive isn't even the word. 4 grand for the whole front end with HID's. 2600 for a USED HID front end. I saw them at Club RSX for 2 grand new (just the headlight assembly w/HID). To me that's still way too much considering most manufacturers offer HID's for aound 400-600 dollar option. You should be able to buy just the ballast and other hardware to plug right in with your existing headlight assembly like Ryan said, but I have yet to see just those parts for sale. Well, I can still hope and pray the DC5 type r makes it to the states w/HID's.

Well, you guys shouldn't really have to complain. At least you'll get the JDM worked engine and the 17" should be standard... There should be aftermarket HID kits. Do they exist and are they expensive?

There is an aftermarket HID company. Lemmie find the link...

Try here: Xenon Depot. They sell HID conversions for just about any car.

Thanks for the infor Ryan! I took a look at the site and now I could be a customer :)

Only problem is that I'm in Australia. I'm trying to find a product that is local... Just another question, the kits they have are for low beam HID's. Is it possible for both High and Low beams for the RSX's Headlight cluster to be fitted with HID's? or is that too much of an impractical proposition?

Have you heard any good or bad comments about those particuliar aftermarket HID's? I've heard some bad comments about fit and quality regarding some (like Phillips, I think). Just wondering.

Yes, I remember reading a post on another board from someone at Xenon Depot saying you could get high beam HIDs also. It's just a different part number. I'm sure they can help you if you contact them.

Thanks Ryan, I've contacted them and they're very helpful indeed! Are there any other suppliers that are as good as this one?

They replied to my emails within a 6 hour period, definitely worth the recommend. I suggest any one out there wanting to upgrade their crappy halogens to the HID setup, this would be a good place to buy.

Not only are the HID's better looking, they're safer and they use less power (only around 20 watts though)

Anyone with experience with a HID headlight upgrade?

Do you know which kit they used? Maybe the ones from Xenon Depot. I noticed that they have a 5k (5000 Kelvin, I assume) and a 6k kit. I wondered how much of a difference there was between the two.

I think the RSX kit looks, awesome... I plan to get aftermarket HIDs on the next car I purchase, probably the '02 Si. I'm guessing the RSX in the pics had the 6K kit... I like the purple/blue look better.

That RSX does have the 6k kit. Someone from Xenon Depot sent me the same pictures and told me it was with the 6k kit.

Has anyone noticed excessive backglare when using HID systems in bad weather (rain, snow, etc.)? I'm hesitant to install a HID system because of two reasons:

1. Backglare in bad weather
2. I hate it when I'm blinded by on-coming traffic or the guy behind me running HIDs (and so I don't want to be one of these people).

E-code headlamps have a left and horizontal cut off that minimize or eliminate both of these.

Comments?

My friend's DC2R HIDs sometimes did cause glare when he drives behind me but with a little adjustment I don't think its that bad. Problem is because it may "flood" too much rather than having a more concentrated beam. This causes the glare you mentioned during rain or after raining when the roads are wet.

Last weekend I had a Silver DC5R with HIDs behind me and his lights weren't blinding at all except when he hits a bump in the road and the car raises and the beam shines directly into U. But that occurs with most cars anyways.
