The concept that every vehicle for the US market has to be longer, wider, heavier, more powerful is no longer valid, at least for the near future, imo.
I'd like to see Honda introduce JDM size wagons/microvans instead.

That for sharing YOUR OPINION.
IMO, I disagree with you.

I don't agree with that statement. I see the average family who wants a AWD wagon with some towing capability leaning towards this car more than a Pilot or CRV. It will eat into some Pilot/CRV sales while adding some of the outback people to the Honda family.

If I can get a V6 with towing of 3500+ lbs. It would be for me. I think there is a void between CRV and Pilot. I can speak to this being a previous owner of a CRV (02). My needs are AWD, 4 passenger, and can tow 3500 lbs. If it ran on 87 fuel and had a 6 MT it would be perfect.
The problem with the CRV is that it doesn't have the utility that I require. The problem for the Pilot is the pricepoint for the touring is a little steep for my budget (I would be willing to go as high as $35,000) and I don't need 8 passenger capability.
While this market is not the majority, it is definately a gap. I have started looking into the Toyota Veracruz and the reason this is viable is that they are using existing parts from the Hylander and the Camary to put it together. I think that an Accord tourer would be a great offering. It would be awesome with the 3.5 with 6MT. I currently have the 08 Accord Coupe 6MT and it is awesome.

Wouldnt a v6 CRV be cheaper to produce than an entirely new model?

Civicw, I would add a "higher riding" (more ground clearance) to your list. As you can see from some of replies to your post, people want about 500 differen varieties of SUVs/CUVs. Bigger than this SUV but smaller than that SUV, more luxurious than this SUV but with more seats than that SUV. Something that is more powerful that this SUV but weaker than that SUV.
In the meantime Fit is the only wagon Honda offers.
I believe Honda will get more sales by simply offering a more powerful Fit or a _real_ wagon than by adding 35 other SUVs or CUVs or whatever name they choose to call those bloated and ready-to-roll-over things.

The fit has a great chassis and a horrible engine. Its actually a very un honda like engine that lacks high rpm gusto. The fuel economy is actually worse than a Civic.
