Honda's biggest mistake with the RL was not to offer a more expensive, high performance version of the RL (V8, turbo etc) that would lick the 545 (no 535 when it was introduced). That would have served to "knight" the cheaper version.
One thing that irritates the hell out of me is the whole BMW aura crap, the 5 series that 85% of oners buy is the 528 which as noted, is handily beaten by the RL in all areas, however, every 5 series owner thinks he's driving the ultimate driving machine, sorry wrong answer!!!!!! the ultimate driving machine you think you have is an additional 20 K!!!!!! The extra 10 K you spent over an RL bought you a car that is less than RL by every measure.
