Motor Trend,
Acura's finger-threatening "power plenum" grille further delivers to the brand a distinctive face, but we're not convinced Veg-O-Matic dicer is the way to go here. But fire its sweet 2.4-liter four, notch the super-slick six-speed shifter into first (the alternative is a new paddle-shift five-speed automatic), and Acura's entry model can melt reservations faster than an 18-year-old on a Tijuana weekend. The car is a smile-maker. |

10 Best...yes.
COTY...not quite. None of the vehicles on the list are particularly groundbreaking (my loathing of the GT-R aside), but my vote goes for the XF.
I dig the TSX though. The chassis is pretty nice and so is the tranny.

TSX? I prefer the Fit or the XF to win.
I have seen the group picture of the contenders for the COTY. I must say that the TL looks far better than the Matrix. Why is the Matrix on the list anyway? I still wish Acura would ditch their Power Plenum grille.

Great contender!! More worthy then most.
But not good enough to win it IMO.
Needs a 6speed auto, 30 more hp, and a 100lbs lighter.

I agree.
It's a lazy design, especially for a Honda.
So's the XF, although I'm so glad Jaguar's finally rebodied the S-Type as it should have looked! That deserves some applause.
I dunno; I think NOTHING actually deserves COTY.

It's good that the manual version is the contender and not the sluggish auto, which helps a lot. But the fact that they called the TSX a "Poor Man's 3 series" isn't great, so I don't think it'll win.
Motor Trend also had a similar writeup on the 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD but they were very harsh on the TL's styling, but maybe it has a chance?
They also had a writeup of the Audi A4 and they didn't seem to "love" it as much as other publications have. They tested the 2.0T version though.
Anyway I think it's the Fit FTW.

yeah they didn't seem to like the A4 as much, but i'd still pick the A4 over the TSX. The A4 (while not as quick as i'd like it to be) looks amazing, and if you've been in an A4/A5.. you'd know the interior/features are near top of the class.
If the TL looked better I'd say that TL would win.... but it looks like ass.. so i don't care how much value/performance acura is packing into it.. it doesn't look good, period (and it doesn't have brand prestige to save it either) Not saying sales would suffer or anything.. its really competitive.. it (the TL) is just not my preference

I doubt any of the lux cars are going to win the COTY. I think frugality is FTW this year. The "Sport Utility of the Year" winner was the Forester because of efficiency and frugality. It won over the new Pilot, the EX, FX, and X6 to name a few cars. I think out of the cars in the running this year the Fit should handily win the honor of COTY.
