cool idea but a bit to underpowered and overpriced.
i know that the whole idea of the CRF230L/M was to be economical. but they only make 17bhp.
a ninja 250 makes 28+/-whp

would make a nice little commuter bike. but its priced to high.

what they need to do is bring over the FMX650! that thing kicks ass. check it out.

They are supposedly working on a XR250 supermoto bike for 2009/2010 that will be a water cooled, higher performance version that the 230 that we get. It most probably will only go to Europe, but only time will tell...

Yeah I agree, this is not the supermoto we need. For beginners it could be a great bike but it's a good chunk more expensive than the Ninja 250. For someone who wanted a supermoto both the DR-Z400SM and WR250X have a good helping more power. Those two are more expensive though.

On the bright side if you use the CRF230M to practice backing it in it doesn't have enough power to really bite you.

I don't why the Japanese don't just make 450 cc supermoto. That's what people really want.

I would really like to take a new CRF450X and Supermoto it. but your looking at nearly $10k to do it right. honda needs to offer on from the factory for around $7000.

the R model really wouldn't be a good starting point.
the X already has electric start. better gear ratios, kickstand, heavier flywheel. etc...
