Does it have a tow rating?
No, I'm serious. I'd love to downsize to something like this once the hounds venture on to meet their maker, but I'll still need more cargo capacity than a Fit will provide. If I can tow 500-1,000 lbs on one of those el-cheapo utility trailers you get at the orange flea market, I'll be good.

that's funny you ask that, because with a straight face I asked the product planner if the towing package would be standard on the Sport model. I was joking of course, and he laughed it off.

I don't know in the US, but in Europe people tow small trailers with any kind of car... Sure we are not talking about taking your yacht for a drive though...
At least here, the maximum towing weight (depending on the trailer having or not its own brakes) is usually specified in the users manual.

Probably has a zero rating. "Lawyers and such"
But I'm sure it can tow 500lbs.
Just don't try and tow 500lbs with 5 180lb passengers.

According to the owner's manual:
Towing a Trailer
Your vehicle is not designed to tow a
trailer. Attempting to do so can void
your warranties.

Miata owners regularly tow sets of 4 wheels and tires to the autocross. That should tell you something.
Also, I have a buddy who used his 4th gen Civic (you know, the one that was 2k lbs. soaking wet and had 13 inch wheels with like, oh, I don't know, 9 inch brake discs) to tow a 4'x6' U-Haul trailer for a 30 day US tour with his band.
Yes, a 4'x6' enclosed trailer, fully loaded with band gear (and four passengers in the car) coast to coast.
Pretty sure a Fit would do OK with a smallish trailer. Upgrade your brake pads and call it good.
