Can't you get the JDM Fit with AWD? I wonder why they dont even give us this option here? I would get it in a heart beat!

the simple answer is probably 3 letters, "CR-V".
im assuming they worked out the numbers and finances and decided its not worth it in the american market. theres not much of an AWD compact market since the mazda 323 back in the 80's. parts supply is probably an issue. im assuming production of the fits WORLDWIDE is split up between different plants to serve different areas which would be extra expense. or maybe it just doesnt work in LHD. probably a lot of reasons.
sure, it would be "nice", but probably not profitable. or at least honda doesnt think so, or they would have offered it.

I don't think Fit platform was designed with AWD in mind. To drive the rear wheels, you'll have to lose the magic seats, some trunk space and relocate the fuel tank.
Which means that it will never happen.

after looking at the JDM site.
it appears to have all standard options with the AWD.
still has the fuel tank, magic seats etc...
probably the cost and MPG,
they must not want to push $20k for a loaded model.
my problem with the CR-V is that its like $30,000 loaded.

This is really what I have been looking for. Wife and I go camping alot and hit the forest roads. Rough, but nothing that a little ground clearance would handle. AWD would be a bonus. My 95 accord is taking a beating on the weekends.
Am I the only one who would love a fit sized SUV. In other countries they have something called the Cross-Fox - its a VW Fox based SUV. Small and fuel efficient, but capable enought for rough roads.

I think Honda is missing the mark big time.
Here in the Northwest I talk to alot of people who say they would buy a Fit if offered in an AWD version.
What is up with Honda? I don't think they listen to their customers very well.

As an Element owner (EX AWD) i would seriously consider an AWD Fit. Snowboarders driver Honda's too, not just Suburu's

Same here, I would definitely consider the Fit, and know plenty of other people who would as well if they would offer the AWD version here in the States.
