Dude, Honda's on a role with these little sporty concepts. I love the CRZ and I love, love, LOVE this thing. They can call it whatever they want, but it looks awesome.

Going lighter and greener with the next S2000 is a great strategy if Honda chooses to implement it; as long as they keep the sporty nature of the vehicle with great performance, a 6-speed manual, and sporty styling.
Imagine the current S2000 in a lighter-weight and more aerodynamic body. No need for a power increase, maybe a beefier midrange but that is all.
A RWD hybrid would be interesting as long as they can keep the weight down.

Toyota and subaru are gonna bring us 2 RWD coupe's with around 220BHP. And nissan is making a silvia with a 225bhp from a turbo 2.0. And the best that honda can do is a FF hybrid, whats wrong honda!

For everyone who has contested my love for Honda - LISTEN UP!
I really like this so far!

Sorry guys...
As per autoblog:
"The CR-Z is still slated to be released sometime next year, but Honda insists that the OSM is strictly a design study and is not confirmed for production. However, as OSM (read: awesome) as it may be, it's not the next S2000, according to Honda spokesperson Steve Kirk."

Besides, shouldn't you guys start complaining about front overhang or something?

The Silvia might be a cool car, if they don't bloat it.

This drawing looks real good, so who cares about the overhang? :-) OTOH the design is very "concept-y", meaning it'll never see production as is, although I wouldn't be surprise to see certain design cues from the drawing show up in other production cars eventually.

The front is actually very similar to the nose on the CR-Z concept. The grill and the... yes, overhang.

they can make this one the saturn sky, pontiac solstice, and mazda miata Killer, if they want. I love it. a 1.5 liter engine making 150hp at 8000rpm - mated to an IMA that boosts another 50hp - mated to a 6MTw/lsd and perfect ratios for both gas economy and performance - if it can achieve 35-40mpg for both city and highway and weights about 2500lbs at the most - this is a winner. RWD. price it at $25000.
Wow - I'll buy it.

Such an awesome concept. And the fact it's hybrid? Even better.
I hope the IMA motor gets more torquey. Going to have such a nice pull.

That's why Toyota bought into Fuji Heavy Industries,it always needs help from someone else to come up with a car that requires more thought than a Corolla.
Honda has the V10 Sports car,the CR-Z and now the low emissions sportscar concept.
I know we're heading towards exciting times in regard to Honda's future sportcar line up.
About time too :)

Toyota doesn't need any help, look at the supra and the legendary 2JZ engine. And did you forget the LF-A v10.

I think that's probably right; maybe given its motorbike and fun sportscar heritage, Honda is able to give itself a more youthful, fun, unpretentious culture. This would allow it to be properly differentiated form Acura, with its more middle-aged, self-important, status-obsessed luxury culture.
The proportions of the rendering suggest a CR-Z convertible (cf. Alfa's GTV & Spyder) which would leave the 'proper' S3000 to be promoted to Acura status.
Makes a great deal of sense, really.

When will people learn that hybrids aren't the answer....
Adding weight, electrical moving components, and a 600lb lead acid battery to a vehicle are not environmentally friendly, dependability friendly, or longevity friendly solutions. Make the car run on hydrogen....make the car run on friggin alcohol (it's damn near free and you can make it from anything). There is nothing wrong wiith a combustion engine - just burn something more replenishable....

CarPhreakD... Nice job!
Glad someone is keeping track of the rolley trolleys.
I was actually going to do a fake "i hate this car" message, one full of sarcasm, since i figured nobody could actually hate this car, not even the haters. However i see that not only did the hate already get posted, but that you already bitch slapped them for it. Awesome.

the insight and prius aren't shade tree mechanic contraptions. their not using a bunch of 12v car batteries.
the insights battery pack consist of 120 1.2v D cell sized Ni-MH batteries at a weight of approx .36lbs per cell for a total weight of 43.2lbs + some packaging and controller.

I slipped a freudian Zero in there....though I do believe the Hybrid Civic is 200+ lbs heavier than your standard DX auto. Might be more toys than just the hybrid gear though.
