I almost never keep the spare in my S2000 (well, it's in there now because we took a trip to the mountains, last, um, November) and it never lived in our project Si. I figure with my cell phone and roadside assistance plan, I'm ok. I haven't taken it out of my si sedan yet because I've been meaning to get a block of foam that I can carve to the approximate size of the spare, so my trunk floor doesn't collapse due to the lack of the spare that normally supports it. But as soon as I do that, my spare, jack, and tools will be gone from my car.
When I buy a new set of wheels and tires, I'll probably buy a 5th wheel/tire so I have a full spare.
