Lane keeping assist...Collision mitigation braking..... adaptive cruise control.... Does anyone else assume this might be part of a package offered on the new TSX. Ride and drive for the new TSX has been scheduled for last week in April. Hopefully these technologies will be offered as an option package. Great features for an "entry level" car IMO.

I'm don't think the U.S. will get the Lane Keeping Assist, but the Collision Mitigation Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control will hopefully be offered as part of a technology package, as it is with the RL. Every Acura should have that option, in my opinion.

In a word, no.

The technical data as well as complete specs have been released, we know how the TSX will be equipped.

The CMBS package on the RL is basically a flop. It would be foolish to take the most advanced technology available in your failing flagship and put it in the entry level vehicle of the line up then make it cost as much as your mid level sedan.

Is that 'a flop' in its sales-appeal sense, or is there actually something wrong with it?

There are some who say the system is flawed and doesn't react quick enough in a real situation and it has been reported to occasionally have issues with steel plates in the road (used during road construction) seeing them as objects that can be crashed into (and applying brakes) instead of realizing they are only 1" tall and just driving over them.

Many folks who own them have done their own tests in controlled circumstances and have not been happy with the results.

I was referring to the sales of the package and that it is difficult to get the color combo you want when dealers don't want to stock a low volume product.

If this is true, its Acura's disadvantage. They need to look at whatever new model is coming out and give it whatever it needs (be it a bigger engine, more power, high-end features/options) to be competitive in its class, NOT hold things back because they can only come on a 5-year-old "flagship".

Nope, TSX is getting nothing like that.

I really wish they made that Hybrid sports car and sold it for 25K.

I'd get it in a second.

I bet there's a huge market out there for a FUN, fuel efficient car. There's millions of men who drive to work each day, and they want a nice sporty car with leather, nice stereo, gadgets and a prelude feel.

This will allow the 'wife' to retain the more 'family hauler' in the form of a sedan/mini-van etc. It can be bigger and more gas guzzling cuz it's not driven to work everyday.

But I see that combo in the future. With gas costing $4.00/gallon, it's gonna take the average person who commutes 1 hour to work $350-400 in gasoline costs. (at 20mpg)

If we can get 40mpg out a sporty car, people will switch.
I know I will. I can't tolerate my gas costing more than my carpayment.that's crazy!

Thanks for the insider info!

I have a deep distrust of FREDs anyway, so I'm not surprised.

The second point is the biggest hurdle for the Japanese to understand:

Teir 1 & 2 manufacturers offer a pointless array of options and you have to wait and wait. This deludes the buyer into believing his mass-produced Krautwagen is something bespoke.

The Japanese have always thrown in all the stuff you need, made 'em in a limited range of choices so there is less stock lead time and less QC issues. It's two irreconcileable business models, which they must reconcile!
