I own a 1996 ek3 honda civic hatchback vti which i am currently considering to switch over to a manual gearbox reason for this is i want to feel the real power from my 1500cc engine, i have already installed a perfomance aircleaner to my car but i still need more power.
I want to know which gearbox is compatiable with my current engine and also a list of all the things required to make this transaction.
Also with performance to the honda civic if i wanted more power from my car would you recommend installing a complete exhaust system or would a exhaust tip give me some more hp to my engine.
If i change from auto to a manual how would the car be fuel economy wise.

Although I don't know nearly enough to tell you exactly what you'd have to do to make the switch, I do know that it would be a hell of a lot of time, work, and money. You'd be much better off just buying a manual transmission car. This is a tough job better left to people that live under their cars rather than people who (no offense) don't even know basic things about tuning the car, like exhaust replacement.
For the record, the greatest power gains will come from a full exhaust replacement, ditching the cat. Cat-back systems can still provide some small gains, and "exhaust tips" don't do anything but look shiny and sound ricey.

Just a guess, but it would most likely be cheaper to just go buy another 1996 Civic that already has a manual transmission.
