Well, I was just surfing Japanese Honda website trying to find out model-trims and prices for Honda S2000 and...
Basically that's what's written on the top of the news section in bright red: "orders for current model S2000 are not accepted anymore, please ask for details at your dealer".
I also notice that it's not possible to build your own S2000 as before...
I wonder if that means something for the S2000 future globally...
I wonder if only the U.S. will get a final performance version of the S2000 as a way of Honda Japan to say "Thank You" for the highest S2000 sales volumes of any country?
I fully expected Japan to get an S2000 Type R while the U.S. got an S2000 CR, but it's possible the S2000 will retire globally, with one last model year and one performance variant for the U.S. only.

We spoken to the project leader for the next gen. S2000, so it won't retire altogether. A new version is on the way, probably as a MY09 vehicle. No details, though -- sorry.

Thanks Ryan... I can stop crying now.
So the sportiest Honda we will have in the U.S for a year or so will be the Si? That really sucks!

The reason the CR is available only in the US is because Honda marketing research indicate that only Americans are distasteful enought to buy such an ugly creation. Some will call it Rice, some will call it "collector", and others call it the ultimate S2000. I call it $10K over a regular S2000 since you can buy them for $27-$28K now.
A Type R in Japan usually does not occur at the end of the model cycle. I doubt a Type R of the current S2000 will happen.
