What is the cost of repairing or replacing the auto trans in an '02 Accord EX V6?
I have 104K on the car. The transmission fluid was changed at 60K and 90K.

You want to call around to tranny shops or Honda dealers. Prices will vary depending where you live and where you take the car. The tranny itself is a couple thousand for a reman one.

The point is moot now. I traded it in on a 2007 Accord EXL V6 Navi. Silver/black. After 3 weeks of ownership I am extremely impressed with the handling and power. Very satisfied that I saved $$$ by not buying the TL.

How much did you get for the trade in?

They allowed me $7300 for my '02 Accord EX V6 w/ 104K miles. Of course, I got $3900 off the sticker price also. New Accord w/ Navi, destination, wheel locks, trunk mat, mud guards, and front/rear winter mats was about 30,300. Difference was 19,100 before taxes. This is the 3rd consecutive Accord I have bought from this dealer and salesman so I probably dont' negotiate as hard as I used to, but after three weeks I am LOVING the way my new Accord drives! Worth every penny!!

It looks like NADA has the trade in at 10,325 and retail at 12,650. If you subtract the 1500 for the bad transmission, it looks like they got you on the trade in. I would have negotiated better on that. Also I see that Carsdirect has the car listed for 27,721, add about 500 for the accessories and looks like they still got you there too. I would suggest doing a little research in the future; it could save you a few dollars.

My research showed trade in at 8100 when you deduct for high miles. I was willing to take $800 less for the transmission problem. Your CarDirect price must not include the Navigation which adds $2000 to the price. The Honda sticker price was 29,995 plus about $300 in dealer added options. The $3900 discount from $30300 sticker price means I got the new Accord for 26400 which is below invoice w/ options. I feel like it was a fair deal.

Wow, maybe next time he'll contact you when he's ready for a new car?
I'm sure your condescending post is appreciated.

The Carsdirect price was with Navi. You probably could get it for less if you negotiated because I have heard on this board that some people have been getting Accords for 1-2k below invoice. The price could vary per state.

I have the actual sticker w/ the price so CarDirect retail price is wrong...unless you you talking about the invoice price. The invoice is 27223 BEFORE you the dealer add ons. I figure I paid well over 800 below invoice which would be most I have ever paid below invoice on a new Honda ever (This is my 6th one) so I feel pretty good. While there MAY be someone getting these cars 1 -2K below invoice (the Navi ones are rare), I am skeptical that most buyers really understand and accurately represent what they paid for a car when you mix in trade in, financing, discounts, and payments. I do concede that due to my transmission issue I was probably less hard-nosed in my negotiating but I still feel this is the best deal I have ever gotten on a new Honda/Acura.
