Can some of the 2007 TL Type-S with HPT owners verify this information?

The Bridgestone page only shows the RE960A/S which don't seem to be too aggressive. They almost look like all weather tires.

We have RE750s in our 04 TL with the standard 17 rims. And for the life of me I can't understand why anyone would want to go with a harsher ride. If you want all out performance in a closed top Honda then go with a RSX-S or Civic Si and put some serious 18 inch rims with rim protectors.

That's because "they are" all season tires. The A/S that is. But Acura claims (on their website) to put RE960A (not A/S) on the Type-S and call them "summer tires".
I am wondering because I am currently considering buying a Type-S this summer and I was looking into tire performance surveys on Tirerack.com to see how well the RE960A (not A/S again) performed but found out they were MIA. The only one close to it is the RE960A/S Pole Position, which are all-season tires. If Acura puts those on instead as High Performance Tires, I might consider getting the option and use them in the winter too.

Just forget about the HPT's completely. Simply buy the car with the regular tires and swap them for michelin PS2's. The cost is similar and the PS2 are way better. Adhesion is phenomenal as is wet performance. However their most endearing characteristic is that no matter how hard you push them they never let go suddenly, they are always progressive. If you live in an area with snow you would probably buy snow tires since the TL W/O them is a dog in the snow.
I had them on my previous TL and never looked back, I convinced my partners to do the same and they feel exactly the same way, one put them on his Z06 (the f1's were useless in the wet) and the other on her M coupe. One of the things I miss dearly on my RL are the PS'2. The MXM PAX is OK for an all season tire but it simply can't match to the PS2, not even close.

Thanks for the advices 6SPDTL.
Unfortunately, I would rather have only one set of high-performance all-seasons tires. I live in the St. Louis area and we only get 2~3 good snow day a year and I don't really see an advantage in owning a set of winter tires. I'd be using them on dry/wet pavement 98% of the time anyway. A good set of all-seasons tires makes more sense to me, even if the TL does not do good in snow with them.

If you only have a couple of snow days, just go for summer rubber and take the bus those snowy days :) Just kidding, although you dont get much snow you probably do get more ice which is doubly crazy with summer tires!

We're running B/S RE750s in our 04 TL in the OEM size. I'm partial to Bridgestones.
The 750s are very good in the dry and the few rains I've had to handle were no issue at all. Supposedly they have some ability in the snow, but since I live in OC our TL will never see snow. A MUCH better tire then the EL42s the car came with.
Do as 6SPDTL says... get the stock rubber and then change them.

Why not get the standard version then spend the extra and get the 18" Upgrade wheel with the factory recommended Yokohama ES100's. The look and handle fantastic. Run the stock wheels and tires in the winter or sell them on EBAY.

(1) I find that the 17 inch rims with the RE750s are firm enough and give me a sharp enough steering feel. They handle rain and dry nicely. Going to 18 inch rims would be way to hard riding and, too expensive and the rim protectors too delicate to protect those rims. Besides, this is a four door sedan after all, not a boy racer.
(2) I live in Southern California. What's a "winter tire" for?

Looking for any recommendations....
I have an '04 TL and am about to change the tires. I had the Michelin Pilot Sports and they worked very well. Just curious if anyone else has suggestions.
Thanks.

I have 245/40/18s on summer Grand Touring Michelins, and after putting 4000 miles on them on my cali trip, I'm looking for a swap to 45 aspect sidewalls. Even though the ride was very good on most of the pavement, some surfaces were downright harsh. We would have been unable to walk if we had driven the TL with 235/45/17s. I'm not giving up the 18" wheels, they are dropdead gorgeous, but I would like to go to a tire like the RE960A/S, but not if I can't get 45s. Even my GS350's ride is marginal on 40s, I want to swap to 225/45/18s, but I'm not sure they will work.
I asked Neal but he hasn't replied yet. 40s and 35s are ridiculously low sidewalls, unless your version of high performance is a rockhard ride. Not for me.

My next set of tires are going to be the 960 A/S. They are available in 245/45/17, not so sure about 18's. From what I've read they are very good performance wise but still offer exceptional wear. Alot of people downgrade them in the snow, but I live in S. Fla so that's not going to be a problem.

Well i have an '07 TL Type-S. Opted to buy the 18" chrome look-alike's the dealer has. they came with yokohoma avs es100's and i'll be honest.i did not like them one bit. the ride was hard and the steering kinda sucked as well. took them off for the summer and noticed 3 of the 4 tires had nails/screws in them (not that thats anyone else's fault) purchased bridgestone potenza re760 sport's last week.
