I own a 2006 V6 6-Speed Accord sedan that I’m planning on getting 18” wheels for.
I have the 18” wheels picked out (Enkei LM 1-5S), but I can’t decide on what tire to use.
I originally though a 225/40-18” would be the closest in size to my stock 215/50-17” but after a conversation with a Tire Rack rep he said that a 40 series side would cause some “pressure load” problem with my car.
I then researched the 225/45-18” and the 235/40-18” and found that the 235/40’s seem to be the closest to my stock wheel/tire size with out screwing up the speedometer.
Would the 235/40’s be too wide for my Accord? Would the 225/45’s still be the better choice for this car?
By the way, I’m either looking at the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position or the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3’s for the tire selection.

I am looking for the same thing basically. I have the stock 205-60-R16's that came with the '04 5A.
I personally like the TSW vortex or mondello 18x8.
I also don't know what tire to go with. Some shops told me 225-45-18, some suggested 235-40-18. They mostly steered me away from the 18's altogether. It would be mostly a summer tire, so maybe the yokohama es1000. I thought about the BFG KDW's or similar but I'm afraid of the noise and choppy ride.
All I know is that there is no way I am putting the stock turanza el41's on there ever again.

The TSW’s are another wheel that caught my eye. I had someone at work photo shop a picture of the 2006 Accord sedan with the Vortex wheels and the spokes looked too thin for the car. They have a very clean/OEM appearance though.
The O.Z. Hydra’s would probably look the best on the Accord but according to the Tire Rack they don’t have right off set.

We've found that the best overall tire size for that car is 225/45-18. Its well within the range to keep your speedo and all other vehicle requirements in check.
The tires mentioned are two completely different performers. The GY as a summer performance tire only, the B-Stone a sport all season. If you want better ride, life, and all season traction then the 960 would be your best bet. On the other hand, if all you're concerned about is dry and wet but don't see temps below 40 deg, then the GSD3 would work well.

neal@tirerack,
Thanks’ for the help and info.
After taking a look at what 18” wheels will fit my Accord, I decided that the Sport Edition E1’s look the best.

This tire/wheel combo is only going to be used during the summer months (upstate New York). I have been eyeing the Bridgestone's Potenza RE050A Pole Position (225/45/18”) as a tire choice with the new wheels.
I purchased Sport Edition F7’s with Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50’s from the Tire Rack last fall for the winter months. This combination in my opinion almost has the perfect tire/fender lip relation. They stick out of the wheel wells just right with out looking to aggressive.
Can I expect a similar look with the 18” wheels and tires that I have chosen for my summer package?
Here are a couple of pics of the wheel/tire package I purchased for the winter to give you an idea of what I’m looking for.

I've got 225/40/18 on my 04 coupe. I'm not sure what pressure load is, but I haven't noticed any problems. I've only had the car for about a month though.
