i have a 07 Si, NHBP. i got the symtech paint package when i bought it to prevent rust because i live in canada, anyway the dealer told me not to wax the paint ever because of the teflon coating the put on to prevent stains and what not. The cleaner stuff they gave me makes water bead off like wax but it says nothing about protecting from the elements. My question is for anyone who as ever bought this package from honda. Is applying the cleaner 3 times a year enough protection? Will waxing on top of what ever coating they put on the paint ruin it or cause swirls or scratches? My car is getting all kinds of fine little scratches on it and i want to try something different so any advice would be great!

Many dealers sell paint protection packages, and make similar claims. It's all bullshit. The fact that your paint is accumulating swirl marks is proof that Symtech does not live up to its claims.
There is no paint sealant/protectant/wax that will last the life of the vehicle. It will not even last five years. Not even Cosmoline lasts that long. Do not trust any product that claims to do so.
The ideal scenario would have been to pass on the Symtech package. But since you already have it:
Use a light polish to get rid of your micromarring. Klasse All-In-One should do the trick on a lightly scratched new car. It will also layer the paint with a shrink-proof, scratch-resistant acrylic sealant (your Symtech can't do the job alone!). Then it's up to you whether you want to add more sealant or use a wax.
To summarize:
Low-Cut Polish ---> Paint Sealant or Wax
If rust is what you're afraid of, there is no substitute for regular car washing. Once a month at the minimum during the warm season, and underbody cleaning during the winter. Constant attention will prevent rust, not some miracle paint protectant.

That's a good idea. It's always better to spot-treat when you can; polishing the whole vehicle is unnecessary if your car is new.
It gets real addictive. I have amassed over $400 of detailing products over the past year. Have fun making your car look better than all the ones on the road!
