We want Type R. Mugen Civic is a good start, but we want the real deal. We want blue printed engine and JDM headlights that don't remind us of Saturn.

Type-R has been Honda's JDM top breed, and even if it ever come over here, it'll probably be different, just like EDM Type-R.
Blame it on the sunshine? :p

or may be just blame it on the stereotyping of US market of wanting only more bhp and worrying about 0-60 time.
In Japan, "racing car"( i'll use this term loosely) has to be fast but balance, and great for track day and circuit racing, less about drag.

So i guess, looking at the younger market segment, Honda don't see a need for Type-R in US, just the watered down Si version, even though some of us want the R.

Huh? The JDM headlights look more like the Saturn Ion than the USDM headlights.

Anyway it would be nice to have the Type-R here and that'd be about the only Honda I'd be compelled to buy (unless they redesign the S2000).

yea, but times are changing. just look at the motorsports coverage in Super Street and Honda Tuning, more and more NASA time-attack and SCCA Grand-Am coverage. road racing is going to be the next big thing. autocross and gymkhana are going to blow up. i've got a good feeling about this. seeing how AHM has a big following in the "Spo-Com" market, they can pretty much dictate the direction in which the scene should go. the Si is just the tip of the iceberg. the Mugen Si is a start, but we could use something that has a red "H" on the hood. as far as drag racing goes, it's for guys who're compensating. anything that involves going really fast and turning at the same time, they're all wimps. i don't care who i offend, it's true and you know it. they're very few people that can do it all.

so to Mr. Mendel, bring us a Type R! and fire the project planners of yore, cuz my EP3 is missing a gear, wheels that are inches too small, tires that are too narrow, about 800rpm's too short and 20 some odd horsepower.

I meant I like the JDM headlights as is. The US version look like they were designed by Ex-Saturn engineers.

BRING ME JDM TYPE R!! The same one in Japan. Don't water it down for US market. Honda, NA is a huge market with various segments, stop generalizing thinking all we want is HP. Plenty of us want a hard core track tuned machine from mother Honda.

Porsche's marketing line for the 911 is "We don't water it down just because you don't have an Autoban". Your turn Honda. Do it Honda, what are you? Yellow?

I did a little Gimp work to modify the headlights and remove the front bumper. I've also tried to make the front grill white instead of chrome, but I couldn't get that to look quite right so I nixed it.

Personally, I think I'll like my Type-R in black. For some reason, starting with the DC5 Integra Type-R, that red badge on a white car makes the Type-Rs look like Rudolph the red nosed reindeer. It's way too distracting from the rest of the car.
