I'm sticking some 235/40's on 17x8 +45's right now. There are some pictures in there showing the clearance with the strut. +43 will give you two more mm there. According to The Tire Rack, 235/40's are tight. The place you have to worry about is fender rub in the rear. I have not test fitted there yet.

I've been running 235/40/17 on Enkei RPM2 17x8's for the past summer and haven't noticed any rubbing issues. I took a closer look 2 months ago when I switched to my winter tires and there are no signs of rubbing either on the tires or the fenders.

I haven't lowered the car so I don't know if there would be problems then.

I don't know the offest for the wheels off hand.

i'd go with 225/45/17 in front and 235/40/17 in back but there should be no rubbing as long as you don't exceed the 17x8 rim

I just got some 235/40/17 on 7x8 45mm for auto-x (can't wait for spring)

Will they rub if the car is lowered?

Yeah, those with that offset wheel will require a fender lip roll. Will work with the right body mods. I'd stick with 225/45-17.

I plan on getting 235/40/17 on the front and 215/45/17 to the rear. My question is, would they fit on 17x7.5 rims? I have Rota SDRs.

Both of those tire sizes will fit a 7.5" wheel.

Neal,

I have a stock 07 Si sedan, I am hearing about a potential rear fender lip interference problem with 235/40/17 tires. A few questions -

7.5 or 8 inch rim for the tire size or doesn't matter?

Wheel offset closer to 45mm (stock) or 40mm ok?

In other words, choosing between Kosei R1's and Borbet FS wheels for this application. Advice please. THX!! Dave
