If you look at this concept's headlights, taillights, and basic body structure, it is still the same Fit/Jazz that's still on sale. I can't read Japanese, but I assume this is just a modified Fit to show off at the Tokyo Auto Salon, an automotive show that typically display modified cars, similar to SEMA.

Look at the new Mini, looks almost identical to the last one but it's completely new (and bigger)
I asked a few weeks ago because I was considering attending the Tokyo Auto Salon this year. I was told that Honda would be showing several concepts including a Fit or two, but the Fit would be based upon the current generation model.
It's quite funny, since I'm pretty sure that guy took this pic from the news item I wrote for TOV a while ago... That was one of the pics I scanned myself from a Japanese mag...
I guess that Jeff did not put TOV water-marks because the pic was taken from a mag... Apparently that kind of "courtesy-code" is not applied in other websites...
The article says, "This spyshot shows how the five-door will be bigger all-round than at present." How so?? It's the same exact car in every way except for the taped on fender flares.

Well, also, I don't know what a test-mule of a Jazz would be doing in the UK, so far away from any possible production site... There is not even a proper R&D facility in the UK... I can eat easilly that the new Jazz might have more european input, but that input would have been exported to Japan (as in fact they did for the new Euro-Civic), and not the mule imported to Europe...
Interesting though, is the claim for a Diesel engine. If that's true, we might very well see a new Honda diesel that have not been anticipated. For sure the 2.2L is way too big and powerfull for the super-mini segment. But well, I'm actually quite exceptical about anything said in that article...
Also, most JP mags have been expecting for a long time the Jazz/Fit to be unveiled in Japan this late summer. To me Tokyo Motor Show is already too late, and although it might change, Honda has not been keen in the past to release production vehicles for his home market at the venue. Normally, they rather have a separate PR event for production debuts, and use the MotorShow for fresher things... (I'm saying "in Japan").
By the way Daniel, hopefully you can keep an eye open on new issues of Mag-X from now on, for spy photos or artist renditions of the new Fit. It should be available soon because if what I was told is correct, it's only 5 months to the launch of the new Fit. The mag-X website is now a paid subscription site so I can't check it and the local supply of Mag-X seems incredibly popular - the few copies imported by Kinokuniya dissapears very fast from the shelves.
Based on 'complaints' from Honda Malaysia product planners, Mag-X so far is the scoop magazine which seems to 'score' very well on their renditions of new models before they are launched. They did an almost exact artist rendition of the City before it was launched and their rendition of the new Civic wasn't too far off as well.

That's also coming from a mag from past year..., I saw it while in Japan but did not post because it wasn't new and there was nothing interesting said. Jeff posted it thanks to Mike Freitas on the TOV rumours news:

The render has been going on for a while and in several colours. The first one I saw was past May in Holiday Auto (same mag, that posted the same render months afterwards just changing the colour...), and I posted it in TOV as well:
That seems familiar, like I've seen it before in one of the postings by Danielgr when he's in Japan. I don't think it is a Fit though, possibly a concept for JDM market???
