Mobil has developed a new synthetic oil formula standard for the turbo in the Acura RDX, jointly made with Acura for the RDX's turbo application(called HTO-06 on the back of the Mobil bottle).
I was wondering if this oil would work well for non-turbo, NA Hondas like the V6 Accord I got. Would anyone know anything about this oil or have tried it on other cars and what were your observations??
I think you can only get the oil from an Acura dealer, is my guess so it would have to be someone who went there to do their first oil change or who got it from there.
Anyone? I am at 18k now and am looking for a full synthetic formula for my next oil change. I've been using a synthetic-blend since 10k and I just checked my oil level since my last change at 15k and I'm at right at the full mark so I am not losing oil right now with the DC blend. Should I continue to use the DC blend or would a better full-synthetic be a better option? This is why I was interested in the new 'HTO-86' brew from Mobil for the RDX.
Also, would there be any danger to use a turbo application oil on an NA engine? Btw, the RDX is a turbo I4 so I was not sure if that mattered since I have a V6.
interesting in that inside, it tells you to get an oil that "meets the tough HTO-06 standard." I wonder if there are any manufacturers that make an oil with this new standard in 5w-20 grade. Anyone know if there are any full synthetic oils that have the HTO-06 emblem in the back??
